Mission Statement

WAPPINGERS FALLS INDIANS YOUTH FOOTBALL & CHEER is a youth organization established in the form of a sports-centered educational academy, to promote the wholesome development of strong core values of Honor, Courage, Integrity, and Ethics — producing not just strong athletes, but young people of exceptional character.

Our players will have the opportunity to learn the game of football from the entry level of Flag Football up to their graduation at the 8th grade level, while our cheerleaders will have the opportunity to advance in skill and technique from beginner level age 4 (entering kindergarten in the Fall) through 15 years old. Their growth and maturation process will prepare them for Freshmen High School Football and Cheer. We accomplish this by educating our volunteer coaches through a rigorous program that has been established by our local High School Coaching Staff.

Our goal is to set the foundation for our young men and women to go on to be tremendously positive examples in our community, and overall assets to our country.

About Wappingers Falls Indians Youth Football & Cheer

We are excited to announce that the Wappingers Falls Indians Football and Cheer teams have completed five successful years in Wappingers! We are blessed to compete against some of the strongest competition in the country in both Cheer and Football.

Our goal is to provide the Wappingers Falls youth community with an opportunity to play competitive, organized football in a controlled environment and to teach the fundamentals of cheerleading. Our team of experienced coaches are committed to developing discipline, character, sportsmanship, teamwork and self-determination in each one of its participants through the sport of football and cheer.

The Wappingers Indians joined the Candlewood Valley League (CVL) in 2010 as a part of their conference within the American Youth Football & Cheer (AYF/AYC) organization. Because of the continued growth of our NY leagues, we are happy to announce that beginning in 2012, we are able to participate as an all NY conference - Taconic Youth League - and will continue to be a part of the AYF/AYC organization.

Our program is open to all who are in the Wappingers Central School District and attend: Evans, Myers Corners, Sheafe, Oak Grove, Vassar, Kinry, Wappingers Jr. High School, or any area catholic schools and who will be attending Roy C. Ketcham HS.  We also welcome those in the Beacon School District, Spackenkill School District and the City of Poughkeepsie School District since there are no AYF leagues in those districts.

Football is currently open to children starting from age 5 up to those attending 8th grade in the Fall of 2015. There are no weight restrictions. Cheer is open to all children ages 4-15. Our football and cheer staff is comprised of experienced coaches. Each one of our teams will be fitted with new top-of-the-line equipment and uniforms.

Our football program will be run similarly to that of our Division 1 opponents. We will be implementing Ketcham Varsity Football system.

Each head coach has an experienced coaching staff working with them to establish the fundamentals of football that our children crave. Our coaches will rely on the experience of Commissioner James Valentin who will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations on the practice field. This will result in a comprehensive, cohesive and consistent program at each level of competition.

Cheer is run independently from the football program. With Cheer President, Maria Morales, spearheading what will be a great experience for our young cheerleaders. We are thankful to have a chance to work with such a professional group of volunteers and look forward to having the opportunity to jointly serve the youth in our community.
