ABINGTON ACHIEVEMENT
|
While newer soccer clubs speak about their aims and aspirations, Abington points with pride to its already-established legacy of success. Experience does matter. When it comes to playing in big games, Abington teams have certainly "been there." Our top teams participate at the highest levels of tournament play. The fact of the matter is this: our teams regularly win distinguished championships! In fact, it would be difficult to recount here all of the tournament titles our teams have won; but here are just a few of our success stories from the past three years alone:
ABINGTON FUSION UNITED, 2007 Colleen Reilly Tournament, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON COMETS, 2007 Whitewater Cup Classic, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON FUSION, 2007 Lehigh Valley Indoor Cup, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON STORM, 2006 Randolph, NJ Memorial Day Tournament, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON GALAXY, 2006 Susquehanna Invitational, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON GALAXY, 2006 B C United Challenge, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON GALAXY, 2006 Quakertown Invitational, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON AMBUSH, 2004 Baltimore Bays Constellation Cup, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON AMBUSH, 2004 Vestal Fall Classic, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON AMBUSH, 2004 Carousel Classic, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON AMBUSH, 2003 Hempfield Fall Classic, Premiere Division CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON FUSION, 2005 Randolph, NJ Memorial Day Tournament, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON SPICE, 2005 Colleen Reilly Tournament, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON SPICE, 2005 Hempfield Fall Classic, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON DEMONS, 2004 Whitewater Cup Classic, CHAMPIONS
ABINGTON STARZ, 2004 Randolph N.J. Memorial Day Tournament, CHAMPIONS
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS
In addition to our tournament achievement, Abington has also won a remarkable number of league championships. Recently, our girls teams recorded a "clean sweep" in league play, by winning the U-11, U-12, and U-14 divisions of the Spring 2006 Northeast Travel League. Our girls continued their dominance this past fall when both our U-12 and U-13 sides won the Lehigh Valley League championship. In fact, during that season, our U-11 through U-13 girls teams posted a combined 22-4-1 record in Lehigh Valley League play.
We enjoy similar success on the boys' side of the ledger. Absolutely all of our Northeast Travel boys teams qualified for post season play in Spring 2006; meanwhile, our sole entrant in the Lehigh Valley League went 10-0-0; beyond this, our U-12 boys also went all the way to the championship game of the NET league. Similarly, our younger boys and girls teams regularly appear in the U-9 and U-10 championship games of the Back Mountain 8v8 League.
CONSISTENCY
Unlike some soccer clubs, our record of success reflects the accomplishments of our full complement of teams, and not just one or two particularly successful squads. For example, at the recent 2007 Spring Whitewater Cup, Abington entered five different teams (including both boys and girls teams). All five made it to the championship game of their division.
RECOGNITION
Currently, there are five different Abington teams that have earned Top 20 state rankings from GOTSOCCER.com in their respective age divisions.
