* Lyndhurst Park in Tawa was secured as a playing field. AFSC now had three playing fields with Raroa Park, Johnsonville and Arena Manawatu in Palmerston North as the other two.
* Wellington Knights AFC changed their club name to the Harbour City Sharks AFC.
* Upper Hutt based Mavericks AFC joined the AFSC. They entered a senior and junior team.
* Horowhenua Tigers AFC rejoins the AFSC. First time since 1993 they have played in the AFSC competition. They entered a senior and junior team.
* Harbour City Sharks AFC seniors won their first Southern Zone trophy. Only undefeated team in the competition.
* Porirua Giants AFC seniors won their 6th Capital Bowl championship defeated heavily favourites Harbour City Sharks.
* Mavericks AFC won the junior competition.
* Silverbacks AFC and Hutt Valley Chargers did not return to the AFSC competition and opted to join the GNZ (Gridiron New Zealand) competition based in Auckland.
