The Wheat Kings had a big effort today and earned themselves a convincing 7-1 victory and a berth in this afternoon's Gold final at 5:00.

The Wheaties will play the host Pembina Valley Hawks, as they defeated Interlake in the other semi final game.

The Wheat Kings opened the Bantam AAA provincials in Morden this morning with a convincing 12-0 victory over the Norman Wolves.

Game 2 for the Wheaties goes at 2:30 against Eastman.

Game number 3 of a pre-provincials exhibition series between the Wheat Kings and Southwest Cougars saw Brandon defeat the Cougars 4-2 on Saturday afternoon in Virden.

The Wheat Kings took advantage of being at home and defeated the Southwest Cougars 4-3 this afternoon at the Optimist Arena.

The Wheat Kings battled hard in the final but ended up just short, losing 6-4, with an empty net goal, to the Pembina Valley Hawks.

The boys should be proud of their effort.

The Southwest Cougars defeated the Wheat Kings 2-1 tonight in an exhibition game at the Wawanesa Arena.

A-Side Final

The game was a close one between the Wheat Kings and Pembina Valley Hawks. The game ended 4-2 for the Hawks, after a late empty net goal.

B-Side Final

Both teams found their offensive flair in this game. The end result was Notre Dame Hounds 9 and the Southwest Cougars 6.

The first two games have been completed in Killarney at the Caliber Cup. Game 1 saw the Pembina Valley Hawks defeat the Southwest Cougars 3-0. In the second game, it took a shootout but Brandon defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 3-2.

The Wheat Kings started off league play in the second half of the season with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Winnipeg Warriors tonight at the Kinsmen Arena.

The Wheat Kings brought a much better effort to their rubber match game against the Pembina Valley Hawks earlier today in Winkler.

Regulation time solved nothing, with the score even at 2-2. Overtime solved nothing.

In the end, the final score was Pembina Valley 3, Brandon 2 after the shootout.

With a 6 -2 victory over the Regina Senators the Wheat Kings have earned a spot in A side quarter final action tomorrow.

The Wheat Kings success continued in game 2 of the Regina Tourament earlier today as they defeated the Saskatoon Generals 5-1. Game 3 for the Wheaties goes later today against the Regina Senators, with the winner advancing the the A-side quarter finals.

After going scoreless for the first two periods, the Wheaties and Winnipeg Monarchs combined for 7 3rd period goals, with Brandon ending up just short in this 4-3 contest. The Wheaties kicked off their season this weekend with some pre-season games in Virden. It was a great chance for the players and coaches to get their feet wet.

On Friday afternoon the boys started off with a convincing 7 - 1 win over the Central Plains Capitals.

On Saturday, the guys started off the day with a 4 - 0 victory over the Pembina Valley Hawks in the morning. Later in the day they dropped a 6 - 3 decision to the Melville Millionaires.

The Sunday afternoon game saw the Wheaties earn a 2 - 0 shutout victory over the host Southwest Cougars.
