A Look Ahead at the Playoffs
October 30, 2006
One Goal Down. District Champions of 17-4A. Now it is time to look ahead to the playoffs. McCallum will face good competition at each level and it will get better and better with each match. Region 3 play will see tough matchups against state ranked teams. If McCallum makes it through the first playoff game tomorrow night, they will enter the Regional Competition later this week. Assuming they win their first regional game, then they will likely run into Friendswood who are ranked 12th in the Texas Girls Coaching Association poll. If they make it past Friendswood, they would likely play Nederland, ranked 4th in the TGCA poll. That is a tough road to Strahan Coliseum. This is all speculation and they must get into these more difficult rounds by winning their first rounds. Try to make it to Brenham to support the Lady Knights in their first playoff game Tuesday night. From there, it should be a higher level of volleyball with each step. March on, Knights!

The Varsity played a see-saw match that went to the fifth game, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-12, winning it after falling behind early in the last game. The Lady Rebels kept climbing back in the match on serve runs and determination in their passing. The Lady Knights kept their cool and their undefeated District record. Way to go MAC!
