Official Bylaws
GAFL Committee
Each organization is allowed one voting representative. Any representatives of an organization may attend GAFL Committee Meetings.
GAFL Membership
An organization or school requesting to become a memeber of the Greater Athens Football League will be required to complete a full-season probationary period. In order to enter this probationary period, the applicant must receive a majority vote of current GAFL members. During this period of probation, the applicant may attend GAFL meetings, but has no voting rights with regard any issue or decision being discussed. After the probationary period, the organization must again receive a majority vote of current GAFL members in order to be admitted as a member into the Greater Athens Football League.
AGE CONTROL
Age control date: The age control date for GAFL is May 31st. Each age category is broke down as follows:
MIDGETS (5 & 6 year olds)- Every player that is 5 or 6 years old, including any 7 year-old player whose birthday is after May 31st.
PEWEES (7 & 8 year olds) - Every player that is 7 or 8 years old, including any 9-year-old player whose birthday is after May 31st.
JUNIORS (9 & 10 year olds) - Every player that is 9 or 10 years old, including any 11-year-old player whose birthday is after May 31st.
SENIORS (11 & 12 year olds) - Every player that is 11 or 12 years old, including any 13-year-old player whose birthday is after May 31st.
OFFICIAL ROSTER
An official roster for each team in each organization must be submitted to every otehr GAFL organization including the jersey number and birth date for each player. This official roster must be submitted no later than one week prior to the date of the official season opener.
AGE-CONTROL BOOK
An age control book is required for each team from each organization and must be present at each competition. It should contain an official roster (including player's names, jersey number and birth date) along with the following for each player:
1) Copy of Birth Certificate
2) Completed registration form
3) Individual player photo wearing official jersey
GATE FEE
It is to the discreation of each organization to charge a gate fee. Gate fees should not exceed two dollars per person.
DECLARED TEAMS
Each organization should declare the number of teams participating in GAFL in each age category no later than one month prior to the official season opener date.
RULE CHANGES
A change in the official GAFL game rules during the course of the season will be determined by a unanimous vote of GAFL members. A change in the offical GAFL game rules between seasons will be determined by a majority vote of GAFL members.
TEAM PRACTICE
No organized team practice should be held in pads until one month prior to the date of the officials season opener.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS
Any other discrepancy, issue, or decision will be voted on by members of the Greater Athens Football League.
