2006 WORLD SERIES SUMMARY
Since our league has grown to over 800 participants, we are able to offer separate divisions to accomodate both the competitive and non-competitive player, and offer a great experience to both.
This huge number of participants gives our competitive divisions an edge at the end of the season as the All Star Teams are formed. The players on the All Star Teams represent our Park as they travel throughout the State, and sometimes to the World Series.
Once again, Pinellas Park has dominated the 2006 District All Star Tournaments by bringing home the Championship in 3 of the 5 divisions, finishing 2nd in one division, and 3rd in the final division. Of our 3 teams that advanced to the Florida State Tournament, 2 of them brought back the Florida State Championship and advanced to the World Series. Those 2 teams did great at the World Series. The 6 & UNDER All Stars finished in 5th place, and the 10 & UNDER All Stars finished in 4th place (they had a great chance to win if not for a unfortunate illness). 6 & UNDER: Our T-ball team opened World Series play with an impressive 22-0 win over Hixson Gold from Tennessee in pool play. In their second pool play game, our team beat Snow Hill 21-6. They went undefeated in pool play by winning their last game 28-17 against Boynton. The top teams from pool play advanced to a double elimination tournament. Our team won their first round game by beating South Pittsburg 27-6. In the second round, our team fell in a 24-23 game against the Tennessee state champion. Pinellas Park won 2 loser's bracket games on Tuesday, as they became one of only 8 teams left in the tournament. In the first game, they beat Harrison 34-22 and in the second game, they sent Canton packing 24-21. To finish 5th at the World Series, our T-Ball team lost another 1 run game to the Tennessee State Champion.
10 & UNDER: In their opening game, our Mustang team won 4-3 over Oregon Park. The second round game was against Tallhassee, whom they had beaten twice previously. In a pitcher's duel, Tallahassee won 3-2. In their first loser's bracket game, they beat Middle Valley to advance. On Tuesday night, they beat Northport to continue through the loser's bracket, and then moved into the FINAL FOUR by defeating Greensboro. Then finished a great post-season by losing to Oxford and finishing in 4th place at the World Series.
