LAST LAFF WINS CHAMPIONSHIP

Finally, after a championship series that lasted nearly 3 weeks, the Last Laff pulled off a victory in Game 5 of the CLCS. Elbo Room drew first blood, scoring 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning, when Josh Bly and Nathan McCollough led off with back to back doubles. But Last Laff answered with 3 runs of its own on a single from Tyler Callihan and a double from Doug Augustine. In the second inning, Callihan blasted a 2-out, 3-run homer to give the Last Laff a 7-4 lead. The game remained fairly close until the bottom of the 6th inning when the Last Laff broke the game open with 8 runs to extend their lead to 19-7. Elbo Room then tallied 5 in the 7th, to make the final score 19-12. Callihan finished with a homer and 2 singles, Doug Augustine had 2 doubles and a single, Chris Miller had a homerun and a single, Mike Fleeger added a triple and a single, and Travis Bellis and Joe Callihan each chipped in a double and a single for the winners. Gary Coe earned the victory on the pitchers mound, his third win of the series. Erik Fuhrer led the Elbo Room at the plate with a double and a homerun, Billy Yusko had an inside the park homer and a single, and Brent Bell added a double and a single.

Elbo Room won Game 1 of the CLCS by a score of 11-6. Sluggo Smith and Travis Trimbur hit back to back homeruns for the winners. Tim Dietrich added 3 singles. Rick Belles and Andy Larimore each had a double and a single for Last Laff. Billy Yusko picked up the win on the pitcher's mound.

Last Laff bounced back and took Game 2 by score of 10-2. Rick Belles homered, doubled, and singled for the winners while Nathan McCollough hit a homerun for Elbo Room. Last Laff came from behind to win Game 3 by a score of 12-11. Josh Behrens drove in the tying run and winning run in the bottom of the 7th. Travis Bellis homered, doubled, and singled for the winners. Chris Miller hit 3 doubles and Mike Fleeger had a triple and 2 singles. Sluggo Smith had 2 doubles for Elbo Room, and Jason McCollough and Travis Trimbur hit 2 singles apiece. Gary Coe came out of the bullpen to pick up the win.

Elbo Room won Game 4, 11-6. They were led by Josh Bly, who went 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles. Dayne O'Donnell, Dallas O'Donnell, Chad Bell, and Jason McCollough each hit 2 singles for the winners. Tim Dietrich got the win, pitching for Elbo Room, holding Last Laff to only 7 hits, three of which were Mike Fleeger's triple and 2 singles.

#3 Armstrong Beer vs. #2 Elbo Room
Elbo Room won the series 2-1
Elbo Room won Game 1 by 5 runs. Brent Bell had a homer for the winners.

Armstrong shook off the Game 1 loss and came back to win Game 2 by a score of 14-7. Richie Toy, Kenny Buzzard, and Matt Shaffer each homered for Armstrong in the game.

Elbo Room won Game 3 by a score of 13-9. Erik Fuhrer and Brent Bell each homered for Elbo Room and Mark Flick hit a grand slam homer for Armstrong.

#5 County Line vs. #1 Last Laff
Last Laff Won The Series 2-0
Last Laff won Game 1, 10-3. Chris Miller homered and singled for the winners, and Joe Callihan added 2 singles.

Last Laff won Game 2. Shawn Bellis and Joe Callihan each went 5 for 5 in the game, including a homerun by Bellis. Jeff Goodman had an inside the park homerun and a single for County Line.

First Round

#7 Millerstown Inn vs. #2 Elbo Room
Elbo Room Won The Series 2-0
In Game 1, Millerstown Inn took a 9-3 lead into the 5th inning but Elbo Room scored 8 in the bottom of the 5th to take a 11-9 lead. Sluggo Smith and Dallas O'Donnell each hit homeruns for Elbo Room in the 5th. Elbo Room held on to that lead, with neither team scoring in the 6th or 7th. Nathan McCollough had a homerun earlier in the game for Elbo Room. Billy Yusko picked up the win on the pitchers mound.

Elbo Room won Game 2 by a large margin. Tim Dietrich pitched the win. Sluggo Smith, Brent Bell, Dallas O'Donnell, and Nathan McCollough each hit 2 homeruns for the winners.

#8 Chicora VFW vs. #1 Last Laff
Last Laff Won The Series 2-0
Last Laff won game 1 by a score of 12-1. VFW scored first, but Last Laff took the lead in the bottom of the 1st and kept it the rest of the game.

Last Laff won game 2. Chris Dietrich hit a homerun.

#6 Jo-De Pizza vs. #3 Armstrong Beer
Armstrong Won The Series 2-1.
Jo-De Pizza won game 1 by a score of 13-12. Jo-De took a 3 run lead into the bottom of the 7th. Armstrong got 2 back, but had the potential tying run doubled off on a line drive to end the game. The next game will be played on Tuesday August 12 at 7 Hills.

Armstrong broke a tie game in the top of the 8th with 6 runs to win Game 2 19-13. Chad Bachman homered for Jo-De's and Jarid Huth homered for Armstrong.

Jo-De led by 5 runs heading into the bottom of the last inning, but Armstrong scored 6 to win Game 3 by a score of 21-20.

#5 County Line vs. #4 Worthington Market
County Line won the series 2-1.
Worthington Market won Game 1 by a score of 12-9.

County Line won Game 2 by a score 5-4. Bill Johns picked up the win, pitching for County Line.

County Line won Game 3, 19-18. Matt Detwiler went 5 for 5 for the winners.

"Play-In" Game

The "play in" game between #9 seed Ritzerts Retaining Walls and #8 seed Chicora VFW went right down to the wire, with VFW pulling off the victory in the bottom of the 7th inning 13-12.

JONES' TURKEY FARM WINS FIELDHOUSE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

Jones' Turkey Farm, which has several current and former Chicora League players, won the Fieldhouse League Championship recently. Jones' was also partially sponsored by O'Donnell's/IC Light and Daryl Young Auto Repair. Jones' beat PPC Lubricants in the Semi-Finals, 2 games to 1. Then they went on the defeat the defending champion Pit Stop in the Championship Series, 2 games to 1.

Elbo Room finished in 4th Place. They recorded wins over RC Printing twice, Johnson's Bluestone, and Lonce Contruction.

Armstrong finished in 9th Place, beating Fisher's and AJ's Bayview.

Worthington and Last Laff finished in 13th Place.

Chick's won the tournament. They went 5-0, including a 6-1 win over Last Laff in their 1st game. Young Guns came in 2nd, including a close win over with Elbo Room.

CLASS C STATE TOURNAMENT

Jo-De Pizza finished 5th out of 21 teams in the Class C State Tournament. They won their first 2 games and lost their last 2, finishing 2-2. County Line was 1-2, finishing in 13th place and Millerstown was 0-2 tying for 17th place. Unwired of the nearby Fieldhouse League finished tied for 17th as well with a recored of 0-2. Folmar's/Bootleggers from the Harborcreek League, who competed in the Class A tournament the past 3 years, won the Class C Championship with a 6-0 record.

CLASS D STATE TOURNAMENT

3 teams participated in the ASA Class D State Tournament in Meadville. It was a round robin format with a each team playing a minimum of 4 games. The Chicora VFW placed 2nd and Ritzerts Retaining Walls finished 3rd. Jergler Investments from the Shenango Valley League won the tournament.
