Fort Myers Baseball Hall of Fame Members

Member: GREYSON HUBER
Team: Fort Myers Hitmen
Inducted: April 17th, 2011
Member Bio:

Greyson began his baseball journey early, starting at age 4. He quickly identified himself as one of the area's premier talents, leading his teams to Division County Tournament wins in the Majors (San Carlos Mets) as well as Juniors (San Carlos Yankees). He was selected to the San Carlos All Star Team each season from age 11-16. His teams won Districts twice, while placing 4th in the State of Florida in Seniors.

As a high school athlete at Estero High School (FL) Huber was voted 2-time Most Valuable Player (sophomore and senior seasons), and selected 1st Team All-Conference at shortstop -- starting in the Bartley's Classic All Star Game. He was invited to try out professionally for the New York Mets organization at age 16. His proudest moments on the field include defeating the #4 ranked team in the country his senior year in high school, despite his squad only carrying a .500 record at the time. He would rally his team and slug a home run in the game.

After high school, Greyson attended Miami-Dade South CC, playing baseball in the Fall season 1996-97, then returned to Edison CC for 1997-98. From 1999-2000, he was the starting cornerback, kick/punt returner, and defensive captain for the Florida Stingrays semi-pro football team in SWFL.

In 2000, Greyson founded the Fort Myers Hitmen while playing in the Latin League of Collier County. His team would become a powerhouse, outgrowing the competition before using his baseball contacts from Miami to help fund a local baseball league. He pounded the pavement throughout SWFL, posting flyers anywhere he could to attract the local baseball talent. In Fall 2005, the early structure of FMBL would emerge with 4 teams. Huber's diligence in securing fields and umpires in hopes of facilitating better competition was coming to fruition.

Also in 2005, another of Huber's dreams came true, as he married his best friend Karri, and who would later give birth to their first child -- Greyson Hoffmann Huber (aka - G2). Sharing the experience of raising his son lists as his #1 proudest achievement.

All it takes is one glance at the FMBL Record Books to realize his impact as a player. His team (Hitmen) also holds numerous FMBL records, including HR in a season, overall Championships won, runner-up places, wins, games played, and playoff appearances. Greyson has served as official FMBL Commissioner since Spring 2010, and his hard work has grown the league from 4 teams to 16 (and still growing). His relationships with the county and with local businesses and charities have allowed FMBL to shrink its overhead and maximize its potential to give back to the community. His all-around exceptional contributions to the FMBL make him overly worthy of being the first inductee to the FMBL Hall of Fame.
