CHRISTIAN BUCHANAN FUNDRAISER FOR NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM ON MEDICINE
Christian Buchanan has not been able to play sports with us due to being a young adult with a diabetic pump attached to his side on a daily basis. However, he has become a part of our "optimist club family". During games & practices you can find Christian helping out in concession, gate fee collection post, announcement stand or running errands for someone. He has opened concession by himself during practices & has really "stepped up to the plate" showing his dedication to the community.
This May (2008), Christian learned that he had been nominated thru an anonymous person to attend the National Youth Leadership Form on Medicine that's being held this summer. For ten days he will study and learn from some of the nation's most distinguished medical leaders. He will attend seminars and participate in actual hospital situations.
Christian is grateful for the opportunity but the cost to go included travel expense as well as meals, required new clothes for each day, etc. With the opportunity came the price tag & the funds had to be raised quickly.
With the challenge of raising the money - Chapel Grove Optimist Club suppled popcorn & snowcone supplies & The Buchanan Family ran the popcorn/snowcone machines as well as had a bake sale on a full day of baseball home games. The family raised $540.00 that day to be used toward this experience of a lifetime. Christian has as of now (7-9-08) been on the trip & is due back into town soon. Hopefully we can post some pictures soon. CONGRATULATIONS CHRISTIAN !!!!!

Most of the schools in our area collect Box Tops for Education. I often forget to save them for the school but with this collection sheet - it is much easier to remember. Your child can attach (with glue) the box top as you are cooking. Keep it handy on your refrigerator. . Each card completed represents $1.00 toward CG Elementary School.
Without spending any extra money - we can improve our local school - little by little......
