Elk Grover Soccer League’s Fall U5 Soccer Academy

The Elk Grove Youth Soccer League is excited to announce our Fall Academy for our U5’s.

4 Year Old Registrations (5-Year Olds Optional) - For those parents who are excited to get their 4 year-olds

into soccer, we offer an Academy for them. At the same time, we find that some parents believe their 5 year old child is not ready for "full-on" soccer, so they too can register for the Academy.

Questions and Answers

Below is a Q&A to answer some of the important questions that you may have about our program.

Q1. How is the EGYSL Fall Academy different than EGYSL’s Playing League for the older children?

A1. EGYSL’s Fall Academy is designed to teach our younger players the skills necessary to help them succeed on the field. The players will receive training from our professional coaches and our older competitive players. These young players won’t have to fight for the ball on a larger field with many other players. They will be taught how to dribble and pass the ball and will compete in small-sided games with small goals and no goalkeepers. We will provide a safe and FUN environment for our academy players.

Q2. Why can’t my child play in the EGYSL Playing League with the other older children?

A2. Several years ago, EGYSL voted for a one-year pilot program to allow our 4 year olds to play in the EGYSL Playing League with our 5 and 6 year olds. Our coaches reported that most 4 year olds just weren’t ready to play in the fast paced game with a total of 7 to 10 players on the field.

Q3. Will my child get to play soccer games like the older children?

A3. Your child will receive training once a week, which will be combined on that same night with small-sided games with other Academy players.

Q4. When will training begin?

A4. Training will begin the first week of September.

Q5. Where will training be held?

A5. Training will be held at the Bartholomew Sports Complex on Whitelock Parkway in Elk Grove.

Q6. When will I know what time and day training will start?

A6. In early August, you will be contacted about Academy training nights.   While we cannot guarantee any requested training night, we will do everything possible to meet your needs.

Q7. How much is it to register my child for the Academy?

A7. The price is $130. No late fee applies.

Q8. Will my child get a uniform and access to pictures like the older children?

A8. Your Academy player will receive an Academy T-Shirt and will receive a photo package as part of your registration. Photo day will be is currently slated for Sunday, September 9, 2013.

Q9. Can my five year old attend the academy for training?

A9. Absolutely. If you believe is child would thrive in this environment, you may register your child for the Academy.
