Grand Slam Leads Team Onward to Victory!
On a gloriously beautiful fall day (Sunday, Oct. 18), at the USSSA Z-Tex Legends Tournament in Craig Ranch, the 10u AAA GYB Mustangs-2018 played the 10U Major Grand Prairie Horns in the championship game. Even though the Mustangs were behind 0-6 going into the bottom of the 5th inning, they didn’t give up.
GYB Mustangs-2018 scored 2 runs and the Horns made a pitching change. What happened next was like magic – an event rarely experienced in youth baseball: Mustangs were loaded on the bases and had two outs when London Green, a student at Silverlake Elementary, hit a grand slam over the fence 200-feet away tying the game 6 - 6. After playing good defense behind Noah Brown (Cannon Elementary), the GYB Mustangs came up to bat in the 6th inning and, with runners on 1st and 2nd, McKinley Charles (Grapevine Elementary) hit the walk off single helping the Mustangs come from behind to win the tournament 7 - 6. The Mustangs season record is 21-2. Tryouts for the team are on 11/1 at 4p and 11/6 at 6 pm at Oak Grove E.

Sunday morning they played the #2 seed NEO Cubs, with a record of 10-1, and beat them 13-8. In the semi-finals, their opponent was the #3 seed Tri-Cities White Sox who hadn't lost a game all season.
