    Welcome to PlayMikers
This section will hold special plays. Coach Mike wants the girls to be playmakers so the girls coined them PlayMikers. These plays will not be included in the Greatest Groove Plays. Maybe you had to be there to understand what makes them special but they are special to us and worthy of recognition. We want to recognize the effort and always remember these plays and the girls that made them.

    Round Rock - 2006
May 6, 2006  --   Down 4-0 to the Anderson East Texas Hot Shots, the Groove seemed down. The Hot Shots had runners on second and third with no outs, and looking to score more. Boom....a shot to centerfield where Pepe was lurking. Grabbing it from the air, she fired a bullet to the plate where Jammerz applied a hard tag to nail the runner tagging from third. Double play right???? No, the runner tagging from second got greedy and thought she could sneak by Jammerz.....wrong idea. Jammerz then began a pickle which ended with one throw to Smooth, who ran the runner down for a TRIPLE PLAY!!! Coach Larry always says, "Be ready for the next play!!!" He was right, the Groove was right on the money. For those scoring at home......8-2-5 Triple play!!!!

    Killeen Festival Tournament
April 30, 2005  --   Inchworm - Perfect Saturday. Inchworm went 5-5, 3 walks, 4 rbis, 3 runs scorced. But thats not it. She pitched perfect softball against the Comets in a 7-0 perfect game. Not ONE Comet touched first base.
Z - Bases loaded, one out, team is down 2-0 in the championship game.
Ball is hit to LF, where Z is stationed. Z tracks the ball down and catches, turns and throws a frozen rope to Jammerz to end the inning. "All Day, All Day".
Rey Rey - Second and third with two outs, team is up 3-1 in first bracket game. The Xplosion ripped a ball through the third and short gap for a hit. Charging the ball, ReyRey graps it and throws it to Jammerz who reaches out, and tags the runner at home to end the inning. In another game, no outs, after the Groove took a 2-0 lead against the Comets. The Comets lead-off with a hit to RF, but guess who's there....ReyRey. She charges the ball, scoops up the hit and nails the runner at 1st. Very next pitch, Rey backhands a linedrive hit down the rightfield line. That was the last of the Comet hits. Groove won 8-0.
Mighty Mouse - See Great Plays
JuneBug - After struggling on saturday, JuneBug wakes up sunday with her power stick. She started the sunday hit parade with a three run in-the-park HR in her first at-bat. But she saved her best for last. In her last AB in the Championship game, down two, last inning with one out. Junebug rips a shot to left field which turned out to be a game tying in-the-park HR. The Groove won the game 5-4 in ITB.
Pepe - tie game against the Comets 0-0 , we're trying to win to get to the championship game. JuneBug and Z single to get the inning started. Stitches moves them over with a sac bunt. Then here comes Pepe. Boom, she rips a double to left driving in the go-ahead runs, which ended up sealing the victory.

    Bayou City Tournament
March 5, 2005  --   Inchworm was doubling up on doubling up against the Beaumont Blast and Texas Trouble. In the Blast game in the first inning Inchworm was playing center field with a runner on 2nd base and 1 out. The Blast looked like they were in good position to score a run when their 2nd hitter drove a ball to center. Inchworm came flying in to catch the ball for the out and double up the runner on second who took off for 3rd thinking the ball would fall. That ended the scoring threat and the next batter grounded out to 3rd.
In the 2nd game against the Trouble, they had a runner on 2nd again. This time the batter tried bunting the runner to 3rd but bunted a line drive to Stitches. Again the runner got caught not tagging up when Stitches caught the ball and threw it to second base. Inchworm was there to tag the base for her 2nd double play.

Curly's bare handed grab at 3rd.
February 20, 2005  --   The Groove was in a tough battle with the 92 Bombers. The score was still tied in the second inning. Curly was playing in close with a left handed batter at the plate. The lead off batter was on and the Bombers were threatening. The hitter hit a hard one hopper down the 3rd base line. Curly reached with her bare hand and snagged the hot shot and threw to first not only getting the out but also saving a run. Afterward her hand stung a bit.

    Round Rock Tournament
November 6, 2004  --   The rundowns were amazing how we excuted them so clean. The girls made as many throws as needed (no extra throws) and the tags were made at the bases the runner started from. I know y'all watched, and myself.....I didn't see that many "team plays" the whole weekend like I saw with the Groove.

Against the Rock n Fire Jammerz picked off a runner. JJ turned and threw a strike to Mighty Mouse at 2nd. Then received a throw back to make the tag.

Against RR Thunder Curly picked up the bunt and threw to Stitches and when the runner that was on first tried to go to 3rd Stitches threw to Mighty Mouse who was covering 3rd for Curly to tag the runner out.

Against the Rock n Fire Z courtesy ran for Jammerz late in a tied ballgame and beat a force play at 2nd with 2 outs. That play allowed JJ a chance to win the game with deep fly ball to center that scored 2 runs.

    Killeen tournament
October 16, 2004  --   Mighty Mouse reached with a backhand and came up with the ball then threw to JJ who stretched high to come down with the out. I'm not sure how JJ stayed on the bag but it was a big play.

Mighty Mouse grabbed another hot shot up the middle in the Texas Terminator game that could have been a rally killer. It was a hard hit 1 bounce shot that MM took 1 quick step and stabbed it before it headed for center field. This was a big out that keep the Terminators from mounting a rally in the 2nd inning of the game.

Hammer, Alli and Mighty Mouse played "Small Ball" Groove style. Hammer was on 1st base and Alli drew the 3rd baseman in with a perfect bunt. Hammer not only scooted to 2nd but also seeing 3rd base undefended took it too. Mighty Mouse finished the PlayMiker by knocking Hammer in to score the only run of the inning.
