    Girl's Program

    Girls's Lacrosse Program

Founded in 1998, Lower Bucks Lacrosse offers developmental programs for girls from Grades 1 through 8, at four different playing levels. Last year, over 200 girls learned the sport from 14 trained coaches. We honor the game and its history, recognizing the women’s game is unique to itself, and seek to coach not only to win, but to help our players learn important life lessons that will serve them well long after they leave our program. To learn more about the game, check out this video from US Lacrosse: http://www.uslacrosse.org/the_sport/video.phtml

    Equipment

To participate in girl’s lacrosse, you will need a stick, mouth guard, goggles, and cleats. For those new to the sport, you can purchase a starter stick and goggles from any sporting goods store; just be sure to purchase a girls stick, as the boy’s sticks have different lengths and pockets. Alternatively, you may check out the equipment exchange, held at the annual general parents meeting, where players donate used equipment for others to try.

    Program Structure by Level

1st/2nd: Instructional program that focuses on skills development and fun. One or two scrimmages are held at this level with other 1/2nd grade programs.

3rd/4th: Instructional program that focuses on skills development, and introduces game strategy. Game format is 7 v 7 on a modified field. No goalies are used.

5th/6th: Instructional program that reinforces skills development while teaching game positioning and strategy. Modified checking is introduced. Game format is full field 11 v 11 with goalies.

7th/8th: Instructional program that integrates all aspects of the women’s lacrosse game, including skills, game positioning, play development and strategy, with modified checking. Game format is full field 11 v 11 with goalies. This program is designed to prepare middle school athletes for high school competition.

    Divisions

As a learning league, the girls program strives to field teams of even strength through 6th grade. Teams are formed in mid March for 3rd – 6th grade. The 7th and 8th grade divisions hold tryouts in early March to field A and B teams, depending on experience and commitment level.

    Rules

The Lower Bucks Lacrosse girls program is a member of US Lacrosse and PAGLA. We follow PAGLA rules at all age levels. Parents and players are encouraged to visit www.pagla.org to become familiar with the rules, and for more information.
