Passing of a player held close to my heart
February 9, 2008  --   Amanda Haxton passed away last night. Her smile will be forever missed. Amanda always knew how to keep me on my toes and make me laugh at the same time. She was a very special player, student and friend. She loved life to the fullest and everyone who knew her fell in love with her from the moment they met. Amanda is at peace running around Heaven. Thank you for all your love and support.

THIS WEBSITE IS DEDICATED TO AMANDA HAXTON
who will forever play in our hearts and put a smile on our faces!

    UPDATE

    Projects for Haxton
This is a message from Sam:

    Amanda's Hope Fund
all donations for Hax will go into this fund.

Do you know what facebook is? It's like myspace for college kids On this network I've created a group called Amanda's Circle of Hope and through it, Katey and I plan to keep all Hax's friends abroad in the know with what's going on and what we can do.

    Project #1-
Links of Love: paper links can be bought and personalized for 1 dollar. All money of course goes to Hax's med bills. The links will be made into a paper chain and hung around her room. You can put your name and or a message on them or nothing at all. We have 10 dollar links and 20 dollar for those people who want to buy a lot.

    Project #2-
the Bands: The Seniors have customized and ordered livestrong-esque bands for anyone to purchase. The bands will be here in about two weeks please see any varsity player to buy one.

    Project #3-
Donation buckets: Mrs. Buchwald is putting up a donation jar for Hax in Cappriotti's. Other people who know Hax that have businesses or work somewhere where the community would contribute could do this too and it be good to get all that money put right in the account.

    Project #4-
Gas cards: Driving up to see Hax is going to be rough on the fam. People who don't just want to give money could get exon gift cards or somthing.

    UPDATE ON HAXTON
Haxton is awake and is now allowed visitors! She is going to need a lot of support to get through this. We need to be strong for her!!!! I will be going to on Thursday if anyone wants to come with me. I am hoping that we can put something together for Haxton and her parents. Amanda will be in the hospital for about 4 weeks then she will be moved to rehab for another 4-5 weeks.

She does not know about her condition yet however she is off her vent she has said a few words.

You know where I am if you need to talk, just text, call or come see me!!!!!!!!

    10/2/06
Haxton will be going back into surgery tomorrow for her back. She is back on the Vent to give her some assistance.

    10/3/06
Haxton has had a major set-back. She is not has surgery today because developed Pneumonia and both her lungs have collapsed. We are still collecting things for Hax. Please drop items off to me and we will put it together and send it up to her. Kit has asked that no one come a visit at this time.

If you would like to know what things Hax likes here are some suggestions:
    Nemo
She loves to read (book on tape for right now)
    music
we need bright colors for her room
    lots and lots of cards
    pictures

    10/5
Hax is getting better. They are hoping to do surgery tomorrow. We are planning a trip to see her this Thursday as long as she is stable and doing well.

    10/12
Went to see Hax today. She is on the vent, she has chest tube and food tube in. She was awake when we arrived. Good old Hax shined through a couple times. They are slowly pulling her off her meds so she is feeling more, but she may not realize what it is yet. Jenni and AD put pictures, cards up in her room so that she could see them. Haxton was very happy to see the girls and all the stuff they brought. We opened gifts that everyone gave us to take to Haxton. She wishes to thank you all for your gifts and cards. She knows that she is in Philly but that is about it. I would love if more of you can go visit her. She is going to need a lot of support and her spirits needs us. I will be going back up again if anyone wants to tag along. PLease if you do go realize that it's Haxton and that she needs you so be strong in front of her and please be prepared for what you are going to see. I know that it is hard to see someone you love in that condition but you are there to support her not grieve for her. I also suggest that you go as groups so that you can keep each other strong.
