On September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked in a way it never was before. Nearly 3000 Americans died on that fateful day, changing the lives of everyone in this country forever.
God knows this is one of the most painful memories many people now have with them, but it is a memory we can never forget. Six years after these attacks, we all still remember the exact thing we were doing when we heard of what happened.
However, it is important that we never forget those details, no matter how small. It was on that day that America changed forever, and was thrust into a war with terror. It was on that day that a symbol of U.S. military might, the Pentagon was hit with a plane, and on that day the brave souls on United 93 laid down their lives to protect America, and people in those buildings, and the people who responded, the NYPD, the FDNY and the Port Authority, among others, who ran in as everyone else was running out - they laid down their lives so that others may live.
