MISSION STATEMENT

To unify all Nebraska-based leagues and promote playing the sport of baseball by providing quality structure, support, and assistance to the players, teams, leagues, umpires, and communities served by the Nebraska Baseball Association.

VISION

It is the vision of the NBA to populate Nebraska's summer landscape with amateur baseball and provide programs for all ages and abilities to compete.

The NBA is a statewide baseball organization that formed in the fall of 2006 with the intent to unify all amateur Nebraska-based baseball leagues, resurrect the game in areas where it once flourished, and provide the framework in which to build and maintain new teams and leagues across Nebraska.

There are two Classes in the NBA:
Class A-city population of at least 8,000
Class B-city population under 8,000 or, teams comprised entirely of players that are at least 25 years old by the end of the current calendar year

Games are held at various city, high school, and college fields across Nebraska and neighboring states.

The NBA, along with sponsors and each year’s host cities, work in unison throughout the year to structure the State Tournament. The State Tournament takes place the 2nd and 3rd weekends in August. The State Tournament is a 6-team pool play format with the winners playing in the state championship game. District tournaments for Class B start during the last of July, running approximately one week. If needed, a state regional matchup between two district champions will be played the second weekend of August to determine the team that goes to state. The Class A and B State Championship tournament is held the third weekend in August. Class A districts begin the first of August and run throughout the week. Class A district champions and runner up teams advance to the Class A state tournament. District, State Regional (if needed), and state championship sites are TBD. All sites are annually up for bid. The NBA accepts bids January through May.

The NBA is devoted to its teams, players and communities. Sportsmanship, fellowship, and competitiveness are qualities the NBA promotes. Players, managers, and teams will be held accountable for conduct that contradicts good sportsmanship. Any person that violates the integrity of baseball, their team and/or league can be suspended from their league, and possibly from playing or coaching/managing any team in the NBA.

Being mindful not to disrupt the routine and efficiency of established leagues, the NBA permits the leagues in existence prior to and up to 2007 to use their established rules and regulations with the exception of the state tournament at which time all teams must use NBA District and State Tournament rules. Additionally, the NBA will not allow any team from the list of known existing leagues to change leagues or start a new league once their league is affiliated with the NBA. Persons that attempt, in any way, to circumvent this rule will not be allowed to participate in the NBA, in any fashion. In order for a team to change leagues or begin a new league, the league in which they intend to leave, the league in which they intend to play in, and the NBA must approve it. Approval must be in writing and kept on file with their league treasurer-secretary and the NBA treasurer-secretary. Below is a list of sanctioned and recognized Nebraska-based leagues.
