When is registration?
Registration is held online during the second weekend in March, via our website, on a first come, first served basis. For the 2009 season, online registration will begin on March 14th at 8am online. We send out an email to all returning families and a listserv via New Hope Solebury School District in early March to advertise registration. We also distribute fliers to St. Martin's.

What is your refund policy?
NHS Pop Warner will issue full refunds to registered participants for the 2009 season for any reason as long as the refund request is submitted prior to August 3rd, 2009. After August 3rd, 2009, refund requests that are the result of household relocation or the inability to participate due to medical reasons will be considered on a case by case basis. Refund requests must be submitted by email to nhspopwarner@yahoo.com. Please be sure to include the registered participant's name, the amount of the refund requested, and the program (i.e. tackle football, flag spirit, etc.)

When does the season start?
The tackle football season usually starts on the first Monday of August. Pop Warner and the Bux-Mont League set a "start date" each year. If the first Monday is "later" in August (such as the 6th or 7th), there is a chance that practices could begin on the last Monday in July (like the 30th or 31st). Tackle Cheer usually begins early/mid August, as well as Flag Football & Cheer.

When are game schedules published?
Game schedules are published by mid-August (usually by the 2nd weekend). Regular season tackle games generally start on the last weekend in August or the first weekend in September. Flag games begin the first weekend in September. Please note that the last 2 weeks of the schedule (usually referred to as "Weeks 9 and 10") are always subject to change due to the tackle teams that enter the playoffs (at 105s, 120s and 135s). Additionally, the league tries to make the last one or two tackle games at all levels as balanced as possible (if the schedule can be adjusted).

How long are practices?
Tackle Football & Cheer Practices generally run for approximately 120 minutes.

When are games held?
Tackle Games are played on Friday nights, anytime on Saturdays and on Sunday afternoon. Each team will only play one game per weekend. Flag Games are held on Saturdays in September & October, as well as one night during the week in October.

Will my child play or cheer at every game?
Yes! Pop Warner has "minimum play requirements" for all levels of football.

What happens if we are going on vacation in August?
We have families every year that miss some practices in August. We understand that this may occur and can work around a child’s absence if we know in advance and if the absence is limited to one week for a competitive-level (ages 10 and up) and to no more than 2 weeks for a child age 5-8. Please note that our August practices are very similar to "school" (lots of instruction) and missing August practices can result in your child being "behind" others on the team. All tackle participants must complete 10 hours of practice before they are able to practice in pads and 10 hours of practice in pads before they can play in a game.

What happens if my child misses games or practices?
Although Pop Warner has "minimum play requirements", we are able to limit play time for a child that misses practices and/or games.

Why do you charge a late registration fee?
Uniforms and equipment are ordered at discount prices earlier in the year. The late fees are collected to offset the price increases that are incurred for ordering after the initial order and additional shipping/tranportation charges that are incurred.

Why do I need to volunteer? Can I "buy my way out" of volunteering?
Due to the numerous tasks required to run our program, we cannot allow families to "buy out" their volunteer commitment. During registraiton, each adult will be asked to select one volunteer commitment. We try to structure volunteer commitments to be reasonable. Please keep in mind that there are numerous volunteers who spend between 100-200 hours per year volunteering their time(i.e. tackle coaches, board members, etc..).

Why do you limit the number of participants on teams?
We limit the number of participants on each team to enable the children to get quality instruction and fair opportunities for participation or playing time.

Who coaches the teams?
All Pop Warner coaches, administrators, board members (even the web master of this site) are volunteers. Coaches apply for a coaching position every year (no one has "tenure") during online registration in March. All head coaches are interviewed, voted upon by the NHS Pop Warner Board and must receive a majority of approval votes from the Board.

How can I be a coach?
If you are interested in coaching football or cheerleading be sure to select this option during registration, and if you would like more information, please contact us at nhspopwarner@yahoo.com.

My child is 7 or 8 years old. Should he/she participate in the tackle or flag program? As a program, we encourage children to "play down" to the lowest level in which they are eligible. A 7 or 8 year old has the choice of participating in our flag program or our 80 pound tackle program. We encourage children to play at a level in which they will feel successful and will gain the most benefit. We strongly encourage all participants to play at their lowest possible level. Parents of any child in football or cheerleading should base this decision regarding where to place their child on the specific child’s maturity and experience participating in football or cheerleading. The tackle commitment during the summer and during the school year is much more demanding than the flag program.

What if my child wears eyeglasses?
When worn, they shall be of athletically-approved construction with non-shattering glass (safety glass) or contact lenses. Eyeglasses MUST be secured by a sport band while performing to ensure safety (i.e., Eyeglasses shall be secured to the head and under the hair with a sport band). Note: Eye glass bands must not be knotted or have beads on it.

Can you give me more information about becoming a flag football head coach?
We are always looking for flag football coaches, head and assistant. The season starts in August.

CHEERLEADING:
When are cheerleading practices?
Tackle squads ages 9 and up, practice 3 or 4 nights per week (Monday-Thursday) in August and then 2 or 3 nights after Labor Day (usually 2). Squad placement is based on participant’s age as of July 31, 2009.
5 & 6 year olds will cheer in the Flag program and participate in the Bux-Mont "Fun Day" activities.
7 & 8 year olds will have the option of cheering in either the Flag or a Tackle Program and participate in the Bux-Mont "Fun Day" activities. 7 year olds are encouraged to participate in the Flag program due to the increased practice time and game schedule associated with the tackle program.
9 & up will cheer in the Tackle program.
