     Powersquad Awards-2003-2006 Guestbook

Awards and Accolades from 2003 through 2006
We are very proud of this section. Here, we cronicle all of the awards and accolades that Powersquad International has accumulated in the variety of tournaments that we attended from our inception in 2003 until 2006. Please join us in congratulating the members and the team for a job well done!!

2003 Can-Am Tournament , Brantford, Ontario - Best Sportsmanship Award
Powersquad II - Simply Stacked win the 2003 Co-Ed Division Best Sportsmanship Award at the Can-Am Tournament in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. At the closing ceremonies, it was quite a surprise to all of us when Powersquad II was announced. This is quite an accomplishment for Powersquad II, and congratulations go to the squad captain, Pierre Dungee, for a job well done. This is a special award for the Powersquad as this is it's first tournament.

Shown above: Lynda Daviau, Pierre Dungee.

2004 Can-Am Tournament, Kalamazoo, MI - Best Sportsmanship Award
Powersquad VII - The POWERGuys win the 2004 Kalamazoo Men's Division Best Sportsmanship Award at the Can-Am Tournament in Kalamazoo. At the closing ceremonies, it was quite a surprise to all of us when the PowerGuys were announced. This is quite an accomplishment for Powersquad VII, and congratulations go to the squad captain, Brian Speas, for a job well done. This is Powersquad International's second award in as many tournaments for Best Sportsmanship.

Shown above: Adrian Lalonde, Greg Rhoton ("Mr. Perfect"), Chris Kelly ("Canada Chris"), and Jeff Ellis ("Jeter").

2004 Can Am Tournament, Kalamazoo, MI - Amie Ludwig - Women's Home Run Hitting Contest Winner
Here is Amie Ludwig ("Guns") hitting the winning home run (this was a 330 foot shot) in the Women's home run hitting contest. Amie crushed the ball, hitting 5 home runs (out of 7 pitches) in the contest. She has made Powersquad International proud by her accomplishment.

2005 Can Am Tournament, Barrie, ON - The Gas House Gorillas take 2nd Place in the Men's D Division!!
The Gas House Gorillas take 2nd Place in the Men's 'D' Division in Barrie! The guys went 4-1 in regular tournament play, and ended up playing in a playoff game with the Hitmen (Ontario). We are very proud of them. As you can see, these are NOT small guys (there's a least a TON of softball players between the lot of them)!! Yes, they grow them BIG on the Powersquad Team!! The credit goes to the squad Captain, Dave Holman ("Skip") for a job well done!!

The Gorillas, standing from the back:
Pierre Dungee ("The Crusher", who did not play on this squad but is in the picture), Bobby Ward ("The Unibomber"), Mike Dickens ("The Cuz"), Kurt Gerhardt, Dave Bryce ("Brycie"), Rob Shomper ("The Shomp"), Robby Goff ("Robby Baseball"), Dave Holman ("Skip").

    Kneeling in front:
Keith Magaw ("Roper"), Bobcat Matthews ("The Cat"), Louis Tolber ("L-Train"), and Carl Robinson ("Coke").

The Gorillas had a great time and are looking forward to playing again in Elgin, IL in 2006.

2005 Can Am Tournament, Barrie, ON - Bruised Tassels win the Nancy Ryan Ladies Sportsmanship Award!!
Our newest women's team, Bruised Tassels, was awarded the Nancy Ryan Sportsmanship Award by the umpires at the Can Am tournament. This award is especially sweet for Powersquad because this is the 3rd Sportsmanship award we have won in as many years participating in the Can Am Tournament. It is showing that our team has the best attitude when we go to tournaments!! The credit for this accomplishment goes to Deb Kimball ("Breezy") for a job well done!!!

Accepting the award for the Bruised Tassels:
Jen Upper ("Jen"), Amy Collins ("Clemmons"), and Lynda Daviau ("Lynda").

2005 Can Am Tournanent, Barrie, ON - Sheila Roth wins the 2005 Barrie Ms. Can Am Award!!
Our own Sheila Roth ("Sheila") won the 2005 Barrie Ms. Can Am Award!! This is a special honour that is usually reserved for people who have been going to the tournament for 10 years or more! Sheila stepped up to the plate (using a softball metaphor) and sang the Canadian National Anthem at the opening ceremonies at the 2005 Barrie Tournament. Sheila did an excellent job!! Let's just say that Whitney Houston better watch out... because Sheila is coming! Sheila's rendition brought some players to tears.. it was THAT GOOD!!

We are all VERY proud of Sheila... and we hope that she enjoys her award!

2006 Bristol Wreck Tournament, Bristol, England - Most Sociable Team Award
Powersquad has made it's mark in the United Kingdom!!! Powersquad was voted the MOST SOCIABLE TEAM at the Bristol Rec Tournament!! We played 8 games, and we had a 4-4 record, losing to the Growlers in the first knock-out playoff game, 4-3. We won a case of Stella for our efforts! We had the umpires and most of the other teams laughing when they were playing us. Powersquad had a great time over in Bristol and we thank the Bristol Wreck Tournament for the award!
