Cheerleaders:
Girls ages 5 to 15 qualify for the Spartans and are assigned to teams according to age and needs of specific teams.
Football players must meet the following qualifications:
105 lbs players
-Weigh no more than 128 lbs while wearing full equipment, minus helmet and shoulder pads, 15 minutes before game time. An extra pound of weight allowance is added each week of the Keystone State Football League schedule until the weight reaches a total of 133 lbs. No weight limits are in effect for preseason exhibition games.
-May not reach their 15th birthday by Dec. 31 of the calendar year that the season takes place.
90 lbs players:
-Weigh no more than 113 lbs while wearing full equipment, minus helmet and shoulder pads, 15 minutes before game time. An extra pound of weight allowance is added each week of the Keystone State Football League schedule until the weight reaches a total of 118 lbs. No weight limits are in effect for preseason exhibition games.
-May not reach their 13th birthday by Dec. 31 of the calendar year that the season takes place. The only exception to the age limit is for a 13-year-old "special" player, who can weigh up to 98 pounds at the beginning of the season and 103 pounds after maximum weight increase allowances.
75 lbs players:
-Weigh no more than 98 lbs while wearing full equipment, minus helmet and shoulder pads, 15 minutes before game time. An extra pound of weight allowance is added each week of the Keystone State Football League schedule until the weight reaches a total of 103 lbs. No weight limits are in effect for preseason exhibition games.
-May not reach their 12th birthday by Dec. 31 of the calendar year that the season takes place. The only exception to the age limit is for a 12-year-old "special" player, who can weigh up to 83 pounds at the beginning of the season and 88 pounds after maximum weight increase allowances.
65 lbs players:
-Weigh no more than 83 lbs while wearing full equipment, minus helmet and shoulder pads, 15 minutes before game time. An extra pound of weight allowance is added each week of the Keystone State Football League schedule until the weight reaches a total of 88 lbs. No weight limits are in effect for preseason exhibition games.
-May not reach their 10th birthday by Dec. 31 of the calendar year that the season takes place. The only exception to the age limit is for a 10-year-old "special" player, who can weigh up to 68 pounds at the beginning of the season and 73 pounds after maximum weight increase allowances.
55 lbs players:
-Weigh no more than 68 lbs while wearing full equipment, minus helmet and shoulder pads, 15 minutes before game time. An extra pound of weight allowance is added each week of the Keystone State Football League schedule until the weight reaches a total of 73 lbs. No weight limits are in effect for preseason exhibition games.
-May not reach their 9th birthday by Dec. 31 of the calendar year that the season takes place.
Flag players:
-Must be 5 years of age before Aug. 31 and may not reach their 7th birthday by Aug. 31. (Note: Flag is not part of the Keystone State Football League.)
-Only two players who weigh more than 75 lbs are permitted on the field at the same time.
NOTE: Players who don't make weight can't suit up in their pads and must wear their jerseys inside out on the sideline to prove that they are not competing. (This is a league requirement, not a punishment.)
