Team Selections

If you are a player from outside the SMRA designated boundary lines, and wish to participate in evaluations for Strathmore Ringette Association “A” team in the event that your home Association is not fielding a team at this level, please note the following:

1.    The player must first register at their home Association, and receive permission from this Association to participate in the SMRA Evaluations.

2.    In the event that the player is chosen for the A team, the Association issuing the TRY OUT permission will issue an unconditional release.

3.    In the event that the player is not chosen for the A team, or SMRA elects not to field an A team, the player will return to the Association that has issued permission for the player to attend the SMRA evaluations.

General Information

·         It is expected that minor players will play where they live, in their home association.

·         The administration of the release process will be conducted in a timely manner by all signing authorities. Ringette Alberta Rules and Operating Procedures (June 2007)

·         If a player does not have a “suitable” team on which to play, the player, or parent /guardian of the player, may seek a release to play in an alternate and appropriate association with a “suitable” team.

·         If a player’s home association does not have a “suitable” team for that player, or if the player can qualify for a higher-level team in the same division in another association, then generally a release would be granted.

·         Players may not be denied the opportunity to evaluate for a higher-level team.

·         Associations are not required to accept players from another association.

·         Only the signing authorities have the right to appeal the release in the event of a dispute. A release may be challenged only to Ringette Alberta and must be accompanied by information supporting the challenge.

·         It is expected that associations within proximity to one another work cooperatively and do pre-season planning to accommodate the development of players and establishment of viable teams.
