The 2014-2015 Season in Review During the 2014-2015 USAW Folkstyle, Freestyle, Greco-Roman & High School wrestling seasons, 210 NWWC wrestlers ages four through eighteen amassed 65 USAW State Championship medals, 6 USAW National Championship medals, 5 individual Regional Titles, 18 individual State Titles and a USAW Freestyle National Title. Four NWWC wrestlers finished the year nationally ranked in the top-10 and one NWWC wrestler earned a spot on the US Kids National Team. As a team, NWWC placed 2nd at the WSWA Freestyle State Championships, 4th at the Greco-Roman State Championships and 6th at the WSWA Folkstyle State Championships.

08/22/2015 2015 Hot August Nights Six NWWC wrestlers braved the sun and the smoke of Spokane, WA to compete outside at the first annual Hot August Nights wrestling tournament on Saturday, Aug 22nd. All six wrestlers earned top-3 finishes. The late-night tournament drew over 350 young athletes from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, and lasted into early Sunday morning. 2015 Summer Wrestling Camp Join us August 17-20 at South Kitsap High School for NWWC's action-packed Summer Wrestling Camp. The focus of camp ishigh-percentage scoring from the most common positions in folkstyle wrestling. 08/03/2015 USA Wrestling National Rankings USA Wrestling released the 2014-2015 year-end National Rankings and four NWWC wrestlers finished in the top-10. The USAW Future Olympian Rankings are based off weighted points earned at qualifying tournaments like Western Regionals and all three National Championships.

Results: 2015 USAW ASICS/Vaughan Cadet & Junior Nationals NWWC high school wrestlers Angelo Trujillo (South Kitsap) and Brandon Forster Jr. (South Kitsap) drove to and from Fargo, ND (by way of Mt. Rushmore) to compete for Team Washington at the 2015 USAW ASICS/Vaughan Cadet & Junior National Championships over the week of July 19th. Brandon Forster Jr. finished the tournament with five victories including wins over the Illinois and Alabama State Champion. The USAW ASICS/Vaughan Cadet & Junior National Championships is a precursor tournament to the World and Olympic team trials, a preeminent scouting venue for college wrestling coaches and host to over 3,000 of America's top high school wrestlers from all 50 states.

07/1-2/2015 2015 ASICS/USAW Kids Freestyle & Greco National Championships Four NWWC youth wrestlers traveled to The Dells, WI over the week of July 1, 2015 to compete among the nation's top freestyle & greco-roman youth wrestlers at the 2015 ASICS/USAW Kids Freestyle & Greco-Roman National Championships. Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 9, won the Intermediate 65 lb Freestyle National Title and finished 3rd in the Greco-Roman Championships. Michaelson's top-3 finishes earned him a spot on both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman U.S. Kids National Teams. Quinn Lawrence of Poulsbo, age 10, and Thor Michaelson of Bremerton, age 11, both earned Greco-Roman All-American honors by placing in the top-8 in their divisions.

06/21-24/2015 2015 USAW West Kids/Cadet Regional Championships Thirteen NWWC wrestlers traveled to Pocatello, ID over the week of June 21st to compete for Team Washington at the 2015 USAW West Kids/Cadet Regional Championships. The annual tournament pits the top youth wrestlers from WA, OR, ID, CA, MT, WY, UT, NV, AZ, AK and HI for a seat at the 2015 ASICS/USAW Kids Freestyle & Greco Roman National Championships in The Dells, WI on July 1st.
Over the three-day, three-style event, NWWC wrestlers competed in 151 freestyle, folkstyle and greco-roman bouts and earned sixteen top-6 medals and five individual championships. Savannah Sinclair of Bremerton, age 9, finished 1st-place in both the women's freestyle and folkstyle Intermediate 55 lb divisions. Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 9, finished 1st-place in the freestyle, folkstyle and greco-roman Intermediate 65 lb divisions. Michaelson's accomplishment was honored with the prestigious Triple Crown Award and the Outstanding Wrestler Award. Congratulations to all thirteen NWWC Regional wrestlers:
06/13/2015 2015 NWWC Spring Jog-A-Thon Fourteen NWWC wrestlers took to the Bremerton High School track at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, June 13th to run the 2015 NWWC Spring Jog-A-Thon. Together, the fourteen wrestlers ran a combined 77 miles in one hour to fund-raise for upcoming out-of-state and National-level tournament travel. Age division champions included Carson Tate, 6U (4 laps), Noah Carter, 8U (17 laps), Preston Smith, 10U (33 laps), Mitchell Neiner, 12U (27 laps), Taylor Hernandez, 14U (27 laps), Britton Andrews, 16U (29 laps) and Brandon Forster Jr, 18U (28 laps). Congratulations to all fourteen NWWC athletes.
06/02-07/2015 2015 USAW Schoolboy National Duals Two NWWC teammates traveled to Indianapolis, IN on June 2nd to compete (and coach) for Team Washington at the 2015 USAW Freestyle and Greco-Roman Schoolboy National Duals. NWWC's Taylor Hernandez of Port Orchard, age 13, wrestled in the Freestyle 70 lbs division where he earned a tech-fall win over Indiana's Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Champion and an undefeated tournament record. Both Hernandez and NWWC Coach Ty Michaelson helped Team Washington to a 12-2 combined record through both the Freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments. Team Washington finished 3rd place in the freestyle tournament and 2nd place in the greco-roman tournament, an all-time best for Washington dual teams. The 2015 USAW Freestyle and Greco-Roman Schoolboy National Duals showcased 33 state dual teams and 600 of the nation's top schoolboy-age wrestlers in 17 different weight classes.

05/02-03/2015 2015 Washington Freestyle & Greco-Roman State Championships Thirty-seven athletes representing the Kitsap Peninsula and the mighty NWWC traveled to the NW Sports Hub in Centralia, WA on May 2nd and 3rd to compete among Washington's top freestyle and greco-roman wrestlers at the 2015 Washington Freestyle and Greco Roman State Championships. The annual State tournaments drew over 1300 entries from 85 wrestling clubs throughout the state.
Nine NWWC wrestlers captured Individual State Titles over the weekend including Mitchell Neiner of Port Orchard, age 10, who earned his second and third State Title of 2015 and the prestigious Triple Crown Award (Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Titles). As a team, NWWC finished second-place in Freestyle and fourth-place in Greco-Roman.
In total, thirty-one NWWC wrestlers placed in the top-8 and returned home with medals. Twenty-five Bantam through Cadet-age medalists also earned the right to compete for Team Washington at the 2015 USAW Kids/Cadet Western Regional Championships in Pocatello, ID over the week of June 21st. 04/10-12/2014 2015 Flo Reno Worlds Nine NWWC wrestlers traveled to Reno, NV over the weekend of April 10th to compete at the 2015 Flo Reno Worlds. Brandon Forster Jr. of Port Orchard earned a 6th place finish in the 18U, 132 lb division and Thor Michaelson of Bremerton was Runner-Up in the 10U, 80 lb division. The 2015 Flo Reno Worlds tournament drew over 3,000 top high school and youth wrestlers from thirty-five states, Canada and China. Congratulations to all nine NWWC wrestlers.
03/29/2015 2015 USAW Girls Folkstyle Nationals Two tough NWWC girls from Bremerton traveled to Oklahoma City University over the weekend of March 29th to compete for Team Washington at the 2015 USAW Girls Folkstyle National Championships. Both Savannah Sinclair, age 9 and Haley Michaelson, age 13 placed in the top-8 and returned home with All-American honors. According to USA Wrestling, the annual tournament drew 794 female wrestlers, "a record by a large margin." Congratulation to both wrestlers:
03/20-22/2015 2015 Twin City 3-Style Classic Twenty-five NWWC wrestlers traveled to Centralia, WA over the weekend of March 20th to compete at the 2015 Twin City 3-Style Classic. Eighteen wrestlers brought home Thirty-four medals including eleven championships. The three-day, three-style tournament drew nearly 1,000 youth and high school-age wrestlers from throughout the Pacific Northwest. As a team, NWWC finished the Freestyle tournament as Novice and PeeWee Division Champions. Congratulations to the following NWWC wrestlers:
03/08/2015 2015 War Of The Roses - Northwest Championship Two NWWC girls traveled to Richland, WA on March 8th to compete at the 2015 War Of The Roses - Northwest Freestyle & Folkstyle Girls Wrestling Championships; both girls earned top-4 finishes in both divisions. Haley Michaelson, age 13, finished 1st in the Freestyle division. The WOTR - Northwest Championships drew over 250 entries from throughout the Northwest.

02/22/2015 2015 Chuck Bullard Memorial WSWA Folkstyle State Championships Thirty-six athletes representing the Kitsap Peninsula and the mighty NWWC finished the 2014-2015 Winter Wrestling Season with a trip to the Tacoma Dome on February 22nd, 2015 to compete among Washington's top youth wrestlers at the 2015 Chuck Bullard Memorial WSWA Folkstyle State Championships. Twenty-two NWWC wrestlers placed in the top-8 and medaled while seven individuals returned home as State Champions - Congratulations Taylor Crittenden of Bremerton, age 5,Jonathan Roblesof Port Orchard, age 5,Brenden Davidof Port Orchard, age 6,John Vertefeuilleof Bremerton, age 9, Mitchell Neiner of Port Orchard, age 10,Haley Michaelsonof Bremerton, age 13, and Angelo Trujillo of Port Orchard, age 16.

01/24/2015 39th Annual Art Reynolds Northwest Collegiate Championships Twelve NWWC wrestlers traveled to Clackamas, OR on Saturday, January 24th and battled among 532 great Northwest youth wrestlers (and three false fire alarms) at the 39th Annual Art Reynolds Northwest Collegiate Championships. All twelve NWWC wrestlers earned top-6 finishes and returned home with medals; Quinn Lawrence of Poulsbo and Thor Michaelson of Bremerton both returned home with an individual championship. 01/18/2015 2015 Oregon Wrestling Classic Five NWWC wrestlers traveled to Redmond, OR over the weekend of Jan 18th to compete at the 2015 Oregon Wrestling Classic. Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 9, earned a first-place finish in the Intermediate 65 lbs division and led the 5-man team to an impressive 19-6 win/loss record. The 2015 Oregon Wrestling Classic drew over 900 elite youth wrestlers from 165 teams throughout the Pacific Northwest.

01/17/2015 2015 Girls Oregon Wrestling Classic NWWC's Haley Michaelson of Bremerton, age 13, earned a second-place finish at the 2015 Girls Oregon Wrestling Classic in Redmond, Oregon on January 17th. The 2015 Girls Oregon Wrestling Classic drew over 100 school-age girl wrestlers from throughout the Pacific Northwest. Congratulations to Haley Michaelson.
01/11/2015 2015 Bad Draw Winter Showdown/Oregon Classic Qualifier Seventeen NWWC wrestlers traveled to Snohomish, WA on Sunday, January 11th to compete at the 2015 Bad Draw Winter Showdown. Fifteen NWWC wrestlers earned top-4 place finishes, nine qualified to compete at the 2014 Oregon Classic over the weekend of January 17th and five earned individual championships (Jonathan Robles, Taylor Chrittenden, Noah Carter, Cole Tate and Taylor Hernandez). The Bad Draw Winter Showdown drew over four-hundred wrestlers from across Washington and lower British Columbia. Congratulations to all Seventeen NWWC athletes who competed.
01/03/2015 2015 TOA Salt Lake Slam Five NWWC wrestlers traveled to Salt Lake City, UT and began the new year wrestling among snow-covered mountains with more than 1,000 of the top youth wrestlers from twelve different states. The Salt Lake Slam, a regional-level tournament, is considered one of the premier youth events in the country. Congratulations to the following wrestlers:
12/14/2014 2014 Northwest Ultimate Wrestler Seventy-three Kitsap Peninsula youth wrestlers representing the mighty NWWC capped the Fall Folkstyle season with an awesome performance at the 2014 Northwest Ultimate Wrestler tournament at the Kitsap Pavilion on Sunday, Dec 14th. The Ultimate Wrestler drew almost four hundred youth wrestlers from five western states including Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Thirty-six NWWC wrestlers earned top-four finishes, nine NWWC wrestlers earned individual championships and as a team, NWWC took first place. Congratulations to all seventy-three NWWC athletes:
11/28/2014 2014 Tough Guy Tournament Nine NWWC wrestlers traveled to The Evergreen State College (Olympia, WA) on the morning after Thanksgiving to weigh-in and compete at the 2014 Tough Guy Tournament. Lars Michaelson and Mitchell Neiner both earned individual championships and lead NWWC to a 1st-place team finish in the 9 to 12 Yrs division. The Tough Guy Tournament, an "Advanced Wrestlers Only" tournament, drew nearly 600 young athletes and 50 teams from Pierce County and the surrounding areas. 11/22/2014 2014 TOA Northwest Bigfoot Battle Ten NWWC wrestlers traveled to Spokane, WA over the weekend of November 22nd to compete at the 2014 TOA Northwest Bigfoot Battle. Haley Michaelson, Savannah Sinclair and Lars Michaelson each returned home with a top-6 trophy. The Bigfoot Battle, a regional-level tournament and national-ranking qualifier, drew over 950 of the top youth wrestlers from 128 teams throughout eleven western states. 11/15/2014 2014 Northwest Takedown Championships NWWC was co-host to over 150 local youth wrestlers at the first annual Northwest Takedown Championships at South Kitsap High School on Saturday, November 15th. 10/25/2014 2014 Cliff Keen USAW Preseason Nationals Three NWWC wrestlers traveled to Cedar Falls, Iowa over the weekend of October 24th to compete at the 2014 Cliff Keen USAW Preseason National Championships (pictured below with Flowrestling.com's Mark Bader). Haley Michaelson (8th grade) and Thor Michaelson (4th grade) both earned Preseason All-American honors and 2nd place medals. 10/25/2014 2014 TOA Las Vegas Royal Crush NWWC's Quinn Lawrence of Poulsbo, age 9, traveled to Las Vegas, NV over the weekend of October 24th to compete at the 2014 TOA Las Vegas Royal Crush; he earned a fourth-place finish in the Novice 60 lb division. Congratulations to Mr. Lawrence.
10/18/2014 2014 Thunderdome Throwdown Twenty-eight NWWC Preseason wrestlers traveled to Highline Community College in Des Moines, WA on October 18, 2014 to compete at the 5th annual Thunderdome Throwndown. Thirteen NWWC wrestlers earned top-3 finishes and returned home with medals; Tavis Reidel, Mitchell Neiner, Thor Michaelson and Haley Michaelson led the way with four championships.
