If you are thinking about hockey or are a new member thanks for stopping by.
The pdf file at the bottom of this page is put out by USA Hockey (the national coordinating organization) and it explains some of the basics of youth hockey. It makes for a good starting point on rules of the game, penalties, terminology and equipment.
In Altoona our program starts with the Mini-Mite level. This covers ages 4-7 usually, and is to introduce kids to the ice. Starting in the 2008-2009 season, we ran two levels of skaters in this group. The very new skaters will work in one area mostly learning the basics of skating. The kids that have gotten some basic skating skills down will practice in another subgroup.
If you have a Mini-Mite please consider helping on the ice!! At the younger levels the more people with the kids the faster they learn.
Boys / Girls
Altoona hosts a separate Girls program, the ECA JR Stars. Girls have the option of skating on the girls teams though they don't have to. ****
Let us know if you have questions about any of the programs!!
