Adult Basketball Rules and Regulations (4/28/08)
Section I. Rosters
A. Each team’s roster can consist of a maximum of 15 players.
B. Once the roster is turned in, then no one else may be added.
Section II. Playing Rules
A. The National Federation Basketball Rule Book, not in conflict with the rules on these pages, shall govern play.
B. Numbered jerseys and gym shoes are required for all teams.
C. All teams must have different numbered jerseys for each player who participates in the game.
D. A team failing to have 4 players at game time will be given a 10-minute grace period, after which, if they still do not have enough players to begin the game will forfeit the game. The 10-minute grace period is for the first game of the night only. A team can continue to play with as few as 3 players.
E. Games will consist of 2 20-minute halves. The clock will stop only during timeouts. Exception: The clock will stop on all violations and out of bounds during the last 2 minutes of each half. The clock does not stop for technical fouls.
F. In case of a tie game, there will be one 3-minute overtime period. The clock will run regulation for all overtimes. If teams are still tied after the first overtime, there will be sudden death. A jump ball will start the overtime period and the first team to score will win. 1 timeout will be awarded to each team for each overtime period.
G. Each team will have 2 timeouts per half. They do not carry over.
H. If a technical foul is called, the resulting penalty will be 1 free throw and possession of the ball. The player receiving the technical foul must go to the bench for a period of three minute on the game clock.
I. Each team will go to the bonus to shoot one and one on the 7th team foul of each half. The 10th team foul will result in a double bonus.
J. A player is awarded 3 foul shots if fouled during a three point shot.
K. A player is fouled out at 5 fouls.
L. All defenses are legal.
M. Any player that has blood on him or their jersey must leave the game until the bleeding has stopped and removed from the jersey.
N. All players must check in at the scorer’s table during a dead ball situation.
O. The penalty for dunking is a technical foul and banned from league.
P. Technical fouls also are considered in your awarded five fouls.
Q. Any player or coach that causes a delay in the game will be issued a warning the first time, and a technical the following times after.
R. NO jewelry or anything deemed hazardous by the officials can be worn during the game.
S. The officials are over the court during the game. Their decision is final.
Section III. Team Requirements
A. Each team is required to check their line-up with the scorekeeper 5 minutes before the scheduled game time.
B. Teams using ineligible players will forfeit all games in which an ineligible player participated.
C. The Official Scorer will notify the referee at once if there is a discrepancy of the running score. If the error cannot be found, the referee will accept the record of the official scorebook unless he has knowledge which permits him to do otherwise.

D. Any player or coach who is thrown out of a game by the referee shall be ineligible to participate in his/her team’s next game. A player or coach thrown out for the second time will be suspended from the league.
Section IV. Referees and Official Scorer
A. Two officials will be scheduled for each game. If only one official shows up for the game the game will be played with one official.
PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT
1. NO PLAYER OR MANAGER SHALL: At any time lay a hand upon, push, shove, or strike, or threaten to strike an official.
2. NO PLAYER OR MANAGER SHALL: Refuse to abide by an official’s decision.
3. NO PLAYER OR MANAGER SHALL: Be guilty of objectionable demonstrations of dissent at an official’s decision by throwing balls or equipment.
4. NO PLAYER OR MANAGER SHALL: Be guilty of heaping personal verbal abuse upon any official for any real or imaginary wrong decision or judgment.
5. NO PLAYER OR MANAGER SHALL: Be guilty of physical attack as an aggressor upon any players, officials, or spectators.
6. NO PLAYER SHALL: Discuss with an official in any manner the decision reached by such official except the manager or captain.
7. NO PLAYER SHALL: Be guilty of using unnecessary rough tactics in the play of the game against the body and person of an opposing player.
PENALTIES:
Rules 1-7: Each offense will result in at least a technical foul issued on the player and/or could result in an ejection from the game or league.
The gym supervisor also has the right to eject a player from the gym if they deem necessary.
Technical fouls:
Two technical fouls in the same game = ejection from present game plus one game
Two ejections = dismissal from the league
Four technical fouls accumulative = ejection for one game
Sixth technical foul accumulative = ejection from the league
