Many clubs across the city are considering upgrading or creating new sports facilities.
Following on from the Capital Projects Workshop in December 2009 we are pleased to assist clubs in the Edinburgh area by offering the following advice on how to manage your project.
Preparing a Business Plan
Business Plan Template
It is strongly recommended that your club appoints a project leader and team whose first task should be to prepare a business plan.
Depending on the size of the project this could be a 2 or 3 page document up to full tender specification covering hundreds of pages in great detail.

To assist you with this please click on the link below to access spoprtscotland's comprehensive guidelines and above you can access a simple template to help you get started.

Key partners you should consider engaging with include:
- Local Councillors
- Neighbourhood Partnership
- Local Community Councils
- National Governing Body
- City of Edinburgh Council Planning and Culture & Sports sections
- sportscotland

- Residents in close proximity to your project
Community Sports Clubs/Hubs
Download
As part of the legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the Scottish Parliament have expressed a strong desire to implement a network of Community Sports Hubs across Scotland and it is essential that Edinburgh is at the forefront of this initiative.
Community Sports Hubs aim to improve the use of local facilities and there are clear advantages of having local clubs together in the one community based facility, available for physical activity and competitive sports, that would increase participation, improve performance and create a connected infrastructure to support the co-ordinated development of players, coaches and volunteers.

There is a growing belief that sports clubs could make an even greater contribution to sporting opportunities, improve their sustainability and develop into key health and physical activity providers if the creation of multi sport Community Sports Clubs was given a high priority across Edinburgh.
Please download the above document which outlines several of the potential advantages of developing a Community Sports Hub.
Potential Funders
Funding is always a major challenge and below is a link to a list of organisations that may be able to support your project.

Two key areas of sportscotland's Corporate Plan for 2009/11 are to:
a) Support and encourage improvements in the quality, sustainability, affordability and accessibility of Scotlands sporting facilities.
b)Work with partners (clubs) to identify and deliver facility priorities that will make the greatest impact on sport from community to high performance.
The above presentation gives an indication on the support Scotland's National Agency for Sport can offer club's to develop their own facilities.
