March 2007 Newsletter
Rec. Coaches needed
Although it may sound intimidating, coaching is an amazing experience. Why do you think coaches come back year after year? Although all new coaches take the mandatory CYSA-N coaching clinics, this year, FOSC is putting together a coaching binder. This binder will include a new handbook, CD’s and a few helpful hints on how to put a team together from the ground up. We want to make the coaching transition even easier.
Please go to our website at :www.FairOaksSoccer.org. Once there, click on the link listed at the top left side of the home page and go the the “Coaches Corner”. There you will find an application. Remember, we are an all volunteer organization. We have to expect all of our FOSC parents to be involved in the growth of their children as players.
Referee Classes Offered
We are offering our first referee class in just a few months. With many of our youth referees moving on with their lives (work/college), we need to count on the youths of our program to take this next step. This is a well paying job for youths, paying better than the local fast-food joint, the uniform doesn’t come with a funny looking hat, it doesn’t interfere with their social lives and it is only part-time on weekend mornings and afternoons. This is a free class for our own Fair Oaks players and parents. We also encourage all coaches to take this class.

New Website
www.FairOaksSoccer.org
A great place to find your up to date information on registration, coaching & referee clinics. Links to our parent associations, ARYSL and CYSA North to find out all you ever wanted to know about the world of soccer in northern California.
Recreation Uniforms
This year, uniforms will be sold at registration. While trying to alleviate some problems with orders last year, we thought we would make this change and make it easier on all. Made by High 5, this uniform is called “Storm” You saw it around last season as our old jerseys were discontinued. This year we want all FOSC players to wear our newer uniform as our 1 year grace period is now over. Do not be caught wearing basketball shorts when it comes to game time. Players without the appropriate uniform, may be held out of the game.
We will be selling our new FOSC uniforms at Early Bird and regular registration. For $40, we will include the new reversible jersey (with numbers) a pair of black shorts and a pair of black socks. After regular registration, this same uniform package will cost $45 and be available at Soccer Locker.
Soccer Camps
Fair Oaks Soccer Club is sponsoring two camps.
Our U6 - U10 boys and girls, for recreation players only. This camp starts on Monday, July 23th at 5 p.m. and will run through Thursday, July 26th. This camp will be located at Phoenix Field. This camp is coached by the Div 1 coaching staff and players at Sacramento State. We feel this local connection has been a real benefit to our players as they can look up to these role models.
Challenge Soccer is hosting our elite camp. For older players and more experienced players, this camp is for U12 - U19 players who play at either the rec or select level . Challenge Soccer has a full staff of professional coaches that are here from Europe. This is an excellent opportunity to brush up those skills before the tournaments start.
Div 4 Recreation Soccer
Fair Oaks Soccer Club is the second largest club in ARYSL and will plan on having over 60 recreation teams this year. From U6 Micro Soccer to U19 Community Playing teams.
U6 Micro Soccer are coed teams . Micro Soccer is geared to get the young players a lot of play on the ball. With 8 players on the field, each child has more chances to play.
U16 & U19 teams play in what is called Community Playing League. Given a much broader territory, these players get a chance to play outside the normal boundaries of ARYSL.
Our U8 - U14 recreation teams make up the majority of players in our soccer club. A great age to be introduced to the world of soccer. A lifelong sport.
U6 - U19 boys and girls recreation teams are organized in the last week of July. Practices can start after August 1st.
