    Adrienne Hunter
What is your position on the committee?

Technically I am not on the committe as I am club coach but still have a little say in what goes on!!

    What course do you do?

I am in my final year a Masters in Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise. This is a part-time course as I work full-time as an Active Schools Co-ordinator in East Dunbartonshire.

How long have you been involved in the club?

I have been involved in the club for 10 years. I first came to Glasgow University in 1996 to study Physiology and Sport Science completing that in 2000. I played in my first year and got involved with the committee in my second year, took over as coach in my third year and have been here since!

Why do you think people should join the club?

There are so many reasons that people should come along and join the club. We are the only university in Scotland to organise and enter two women's teams into the university league - this means it's a great opportunity for players to develop and achieve at the right level. We are fortunate enough to have two regular training sessions a week so we have a greater chance of working towards team and individual improvement. The club is full of great people who work hard on and off the court to provide a great club atmosphere. Regular social events range from a cheeky pint after training, nights out in the union, quiz nights, karaoke, and lots lots more! We also run the biggest (and best!) basketball tournament in Scotland during the summer, so make sure you don't leave the country too early!

    Any good (printable) stories?

There are far too many to put on the website, 11 years of stories I could go on and on...let me think....

    - any club tour - far too many funny stories to type 'Stop the Bus!'
    - parties in the Hunter Mansions
    - Bowling for bubu

Five words to Describe the Club:

    Together We Can Achieve Greatness

    Any Other Comments

I need to get back to work...

What is your position on the committee and what does that job
    entail?

I am this year's club captain. I make sure everyone is doing a good job and help out where I can. My first task is to help entice as many freshers as possible. The hardest part of the job is the compulsory socialising involved getting to know everyone. It’s a tough life!

What course do you do at uni? Does basketball affect the time you
can spend on studying or is it a welcome break?

Medicine – I’m in 3rd year. I organise my studying around training and matches so that I don’t miss anything. Training keeps me sane by providing a break from all the hard work.

How long have you been involved with the club (include number of
    years on the committee)?

This is my third year with the Basketball club, and my second year on the committee.

Why do you think people should join the women's basketball club?

The basketball club is really friendly and welcoming, and training sessions provide the perfect mix of fun and hard work. By having both a first and second team, there are greater oppertunites to represent the Univerity in basketball and also more team mates for socialising with. You get to meet great people from around the world (USA, Canada, Luxembourg, South Africa and even England!) and travel about Scotland in a mini-bus to take on rival teams. What more could you want!

What are you most looking forward to for 2006-07?

Hopefully we can build on last year and see both teams playing even better. I’m looking forward to meeting all the new people and, of course, the Christmas party, GUSA ball and other social/basketball events….including the tournament in June.

Any good (printable) stories about the team and/or club?

    To name a few:

    - Coachio singing her wee heart out on the karaoke machine “I’m just a love machine” (no, we’re never gonna let you forget that)

    - Or the ”I like big butts and I cannot lie…” duet with Paula

    - The crazy French girl (Maud) at the GUSA ball with the dress that just would not stay up

    - Hearing how Miss T earned her reputation – the moment that she changed from a sweet innocent little girl and became the owner of a technical foul

    - Lauren almost running over a granny in the mini-bus (he he!)

    - Me falling down the stairs at the sports café and landing at the feet of 2 policemen! Oh dear!

    >If you had to produce a tagline (like a movie) for the club what
    >would it be?

“It’s grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat” in the style of a Scottish ‘Tony the Tiger’ (from Frosties)

    >Five words to describe GUWBC?

We Are Pure Dead Brilliant! (he he!)

    >Any other comments about the club??

I think I've waffled on enough really so i'll just finish this with the way that I most like to finish training:

    EELLLLLLLLL-IMMMMMM-INAAAAAAA-TEDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!

    Anna Gordon
What is your position on the committee and what does that job entail?

Mini-G: My position is joint club secretary. I mainly get to arrange all the games for the season for both teams and there are some other wee jobs i do as well.

What course do you do at uni? Does basketball affect the time you can spend on studying or is it a welcome break?

Mini-G: I am just going into 3rd year to do junior honours in Philosophy. I spend a lot of my time either playing or coaching basketball but i balance it out (i think!!) basketball keeps me happy :)

How long have you been involved with the club (include number of years on the committee)?

Mini-G: This is my 3rd year on the team and 2nd year on the committee - love it!!

Why do you think people should join the women's basketball club?

Mini-G: Because its an awesome club to be in!! You get to play a great sport with great people, make new friends from all over the world and have fun doing it all! oh and dont forget the great nights out - what more could you ask for?!

What are you most looking forward to for 2006-07?

Mini-G: To get back to training and playing games, seeing everyone in the club, meeting all the new members and winning of course!!!

Any good (printable) stories about the team and/or club?

Mini-G: Many many but you have to come along to hear them!!!!

    Here's the hard questions.....

If you had to produce a tagline (like a movie) for the club what would it be?

Mini-G: Life is a game, basketball is serious!!

    Five words to describe GUWBC?

Mini-G: Hmmmm let me see - AWESOME!! (thats all 5 used up! :))

Any other comments about the club??

Mini-G: Come along and join us you know you want to.........!!

    Anne-Marie Dentzer
What is your position on the committee and what does that job
    entail?

Bubu: I'm the treasurer and my job is it to keep an eye on the club's finances. I also have to collect money for membership (not picnic baskets), kits and other social events. I also have to pay the refs and am responsible that all your money gets put safely into our account.

What course do you do at uni? Does basketball affect the time you can spend on studying or is it a welcome break?

Bubu: I am doing Joint Honours in English Literature and Language. Basketball doesn't really affect my studies and I think that sports in general are really important as a break.

How long have you been involved with the club (include number of
    years on the committee)?
Bubu: This will be my 4th year as a player and have been a member of the committee for 2 years now.

Why do you think people should join the women's basketball club?

Bubu: For those people who have played basketball before and who don't want to stop once they come to uni, I think it is a good idea to join. It gives you a chance to meet new people, get to travel and have a good time.

What are you most looking forward to for 2006-07?

Bubu: Getting new members for both teams and play a good season.

Any good (printable) stories about the team and/or club?

Bubu: maybe not Gusa Ball 2006....but all the other social events.

If you had to produce a tagline (like a movie) for the club what
    would it be?

Bubu: Basketball like you've never seen it before.

    Five words to describe GUWBC?

Bubu: Glasgow University Women's Basketball Club (nice!!!)

Any other comments about the club??

Bubu: Why not mention the tournament that we have each year? It's always fun.

    Marie-Anne Dentzer
What is your position on the committee and what does that job
    entail?

Poppins: I am one of the two secretaries and my job will consist in organising refs for our games and other minor tasks.

What course do you do at uni? Does basketball affect the time you can spend on studying or is it a welcome break?

Poppins: I am doing Joint Honours in English and Comparative Literature. I think that basketball has been really important during my studies just to spend time off my books. It has been a great opportunity to play ball, meet other people and the social events are fun as well.

How long have you been involved with the club (include number of
    years on the committee)?

Poppins: This will be my fourth year as a player and I've been in the committee for 2 years

Why do you think people should join the women's basketball club?

Poppins: I think that people who have played before should join because it gives them the chance to keep playing and for those who have not done so, it will be the perfect opportunity to get an insight into what basketball is.

What are you most looking forward to for 2006-07?

Poppins: Win the championship, do loads of social events and have a great time.

Any good (printable) stories about the team and/or club?

Poppins: we could tell them all about our nice journeys to England.

    Five words to describe GUWBC?

Poppins: Great Unique Wonderful Best Club

If you had to produce a tagline (like a movie) for the club what
    would it be?

Poppins: Netball is for girls, basketball is for donkies (aka students).

    Five words to describe GUWBC?

Poppins: Great Unique Wonderful Best Club

Any other comments about the club??

    Poppins: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I'm the travel convenor and safety convenor. I organise transport for games and make sure we are all safe!!

on studying or is it a welcome break?

I'm in my fourth year, studying law. Basketball is definitely a welcome break from studing. It's a great way to de-stress and forget about uni work.

Playing loads of games and hopefully winning lots as well!!

Any good (printable) stories about the team and/or club?

    How Linda got her nickname...
    How i got my nickname...
    Knocking over grannies (nearly)...
Or how my dancing led to me having the hugest bruise ever on my knee.

If you had to produce a tagline (like a movie) for the club what would it
    be?

    (I'll get back to you)

    Five words to describe GUWBC?
