Mission Statement: KYA members have an opportunity to give back to the community in so manyways. “KYA Kids helping Kids” will offer KYA kids and their families the opportunity to give back to the Keller community through their time, talents, and treasures to people and organizations that need our help.
We want to establish an environment where we can offer KYA kids the exposure to people that may not have the abilities to play sports as most KYA members have experienced, but show kids and adults that sports can be an inspiration at all levels of participation.
Opportunity: The goal is to partner with Keller Special Olympics and provide support through volunteering and financial donations.
Aside from the personal, life experience for our kids working with Special Olympics, this program will promote the Goodwill of KYA in our community.
There are a vast number of events each year the Keller Special Olympics supports, but the biggest event each year is the Chad PowellTrack Meet held each Spring. Financial contributions are always welcome, but the learning experience for our kids will be in volunteering and personally supporting the Keller Special Olympic programs. The financial opportunities to support the Track Meet involve uniforms, equipment, food/drinks and transportation to name a few.
Making a Difference: We are asking that the Football coaches take a leadership role in the program. Each coach will be given an envelope to collect money from their team. KYA will collect the money from the teams sometime during mid-season. Whether its $1 or $1,000, all proceeds will go directly towards the Keller Special Olympics program. Suggestion: Assign a parent the responsibility of collecting money and promoting the fundraiser.

2010 Important Dates and Notes:
NOW: Individual Team Meetings: Please have a separate Team Meeting to educate and discuss how your team can make an impact to the KYA Special Olympics Campaign this year.
Every Saturday During the Season: Have a contest or plan to try and raise money every game.
Special Olympics Day at the KYA Fields: Date TBD. We will have our collection day and also be volunteering by walking the fields collecting money. We will ask each team to participate by volunteering and collecting money as well as making banners and decorating the field. *We are working on having High School players participate. We need each team to volunteer for an hour or so after their Saturday game.
Special Olympic Athletes being Involved: We hope to have some athletes involved as mush as possible including, “player for a Day”, working the campaign, etc.
KYA Night at KHS Stadium: Date TBD. All players will run onto the field prior to a Varsity Game. We will need kids and parents to collect at tables and walk through the stadium during the game.
Age Group Volunteers: We are looking for 2-3 Coaches/Team Managers to help coordinate each division during the season.
