Code of Conduct
At Kelly Post, we expect players to play, coaches to coach, and parents to cheer. If you have expertise that you would like to share with our players, we invite you to join our coaching staff. Otherwise, please refrain from coaching from the sidelines.
Kelly Post has developed the following codes of conduct for all of its players, coaches and parents. We expect all of our participants to review and adhere to the ideals set forth in these codes of conduct.
PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
You are member of Kelly Post Lacrosse, the nation’s oldest youth lacrosse program. As a player in our organization, the parents, coaches and volunteers expect that you will conduct yourself in the following fashion:
Always be on time and prepared for any practice, game or meeting.
Always conduct yourself in a civil manner.
Always be supportive and encouraging of your teammates and coaches.
Always respect and adhere to the officials’ rulings without comment.
Always play and practice to the utmost of your abilities.
Always listen to and adhere to your coaches’ wishes without complaint.
Always respect the rules and your opponent- play hard, never cheat.
Never use foul or profane language.
Never engage in any excessive display of emotion either in defeat or celebration.
Never argue with or comment to an official about another player or ruling.
Respect the feelings and emotions of your teammates and competitors.
After the game is over, shake your opponents hand, congratulate her on a game well played, and thank your teammates and coaches for their contribution to your success.
COACHES' CODE OF CONDUCT
You are a coach for Kelly Post Lacrosse, the nation’s oldest youth lacrosse program. As a coach with Kelly Post, the players, parents and volunteers expect that you will conduct yourself in the following fashion:
Always be on time and prepared for each practice and game.
Strive to make practice time fun and educational: vary drills, invent skill games and encourage competition.
Ensure that if you cannot attend any practice or game that you will have a qualified substitute to replace you, and that he/she is knowledgeable and capable of handling the demands of a youth sports program.
Never criticize or argue with a game official.
Always encourage your players through positive comment.
Never criticize a player in front of his teammates.
Never use sarcasm or exaggeration to make a point.
Be friendly with your players, but deserve and demand their respect.
Treat all athletes fairly and equitably, regardless of their skill levels, and strive to provide fair playing time for every boy.
Remember that these are children, not adults. Their enjoyment is your highest priority.
Communicate with the parents of your players and encourage them to be involved with your team and players.
Continue to educate yourself on the game and game techniques by attending other games and encourage your players and their parents to do the same.
Always conduct yourself as in a civil manner.
Set a good example of sportsmanship with your players and parents at all times.
PARENTS' CODE OF CONDUCT
Your daughter is playing for Kelly Post Lacrosse, the nation’s oldest youth lacrosse program. As a member of Kelly Post Lacrosse, the coaches, players and volunteers expect that you will conduct yourself in the following fashion:
Never criticize the game officials, or parent volunteers from other programs.
Attempt to attend all games, and as many practices as is practical. Make sure that your daughter arrives for practices and games on time, and that the coach does not have to wait for you to arrive to pick your son up after games or practices.
Familiarize yourself with the rules of the game and strive to educate your daughter in them.
Encourage through positive comment your daughter's participation in the sport.
Never comment negatively on another player's skills or abilities.
Cheer for, but don’t coach your daughter when she is on the field. She is to follow only her coaches instruction.
Discuss the game with your daughter, and encourage her progress.
Never engage an opponent or his parent in any type of altercation, verbal or physical.
Always promote the concept of good sportsmanship, and encourage your daughter to do the same.
ALWAYS remember that all participants in this organization are parent volunteers, devoting their time and effort for your child’s enjoyment.
Respect the property and facilities of TRC, other programs, and other players.
