Newport Girls basketball:
Is located at Newport High School and is part of the Bellevue, Washington school district
Competes as a member of the KingCo Athletic Conference. In 2008-09 we play at the 4A level for the first time. Newport qualified for the 4A Washington State Tournament in 2009.
Plays during the winter high school season from mid-November to mid-March as well as the summer season from June through July and is
Known as NbK (Nothing but Knights) during the fall and spring seasons when we are sponsored by Newport Girls Hoops
Actively participates in Knight Camp a weeklong basketball and conditioning program held each July
Helps every girl in our program be the best student-athlete she can be!
The Newport HS athletic program has won the Kiwanis Bellevue All City Sports award 23 times since 1964 more than twice as often as any other high school in the city. The award recognizes the high school with the best overall sports record against other city schools. Newport Athletics is the 2008 3A Scholastic Cup Champion. Since 2001 NHS has finished no lower than 12th in the statewide Wells Fargo WIAA 3A Scholastic Cup and no lower than 4th among all Kingco 3A teams. This prestigious award recognizes an athletic program's success in athletic competitions, player performance in the classroom and the overall level of sportsmanship displayed by its representatives. Three girls are National Honor Society members. The girls basketball team is an enthusiastic contributor both on the court and in the classroom to Newport’s well-deserved reputation as one of the top 50 public high schools in America.
