Piedmont Team Request Policy - Cal Ripken Division

In the past Piedmont Baseball was not able to honor all of the numerous
requests for placement of players on teams for various reasons. We
discourage these requests since we are not able to honor them all and feel
it is not fair to honor some vs others.

Once again we find ourselves in the same position. The placement of
players is the most time consuming project for the league commissioners.
This year we will be assigning players to teams based on the following
guidelines:

T-Ball: As numbers permit, players will be put on teams with others from
their neighborhoods. With the changes in league structure this year, we are
encouraging most 7YO players to register for Farm League rather than
T-Ball, and combining T-Ball and K-Ball. The decision whether to create
age-separated divisions, or to merge the 5 & 6YO's on joint teams will be
made by the league commissioner based on the number of players at each age.

Farm & American League: For Farm and American League we will attempt to
balance the players based on age and experience (returning vs. new to the
league) to create parity among teams. Assigning players by neighborhood is
a secondary priority.

National League: This year, all National League players, East and West,
will go through a draft process. National League East will draft first.
To be selected for a National League East team you must have attended one
of the National League tryout sessions. After that, American League West
will draft their teams. All remaining 11 & 12YO's will be drafted on an
National League West team whether or not they attended tryouts. Any 10YO
player who wants to be considered for either National League division must
attend a tryout session. 10YO players are not guaranteed a spot on a
National League team.

For all leagues, players late registering after March 1 will be assigned to
teams in rotation, based on equalizing the number of players on each team,
to a maximum number per team.

While we are not accepting any parent requests, once teams are formed,
there is a process in place if a player is placed on a team that is not
satisfactory to the parents. If there is a problem we will handle the
situation through that process.

If you have any questions please feel free to call the respective League
Commissioner or Player Agent.
