PVYA Soccer is quickly growing into one of Frederick County's most exciting and competitive soccer programs. In over three years player registration has doubled and each season more teams are competing in tournament events throughout the MD, VA and PA area. In addition, though all our teams are not classified as "Travel Teams," PVYA has made it a standard that all Coaches in the organization receive certification from either the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) or USSF (United States Soccer Federation) through the Maryland State Soccer Affiliate. By increasing our Coaches knowledge of the game, the USSF recommendations of practices, and age bracket focus topics, we are providing better technical training during the "Golden Years of Soccer" which span from U6-U12 teams.

PVYA SOCCER MISSION STATEMENT
Our goal is to provide the best soccer development program for our players through a continual focus on technique, ball handling and the first touch. We will develop each player based on their own strengths and opportunities looking towards the soccer player they will become versus the kind of player they are today. This will be accomplished through age specific developmental routines that will provide our players with creative ball handling and leadership skills needed to move upward to the next level.

PVYA LEVELS OF PLAY

PVYA is affiliated with FCYSL and BBSL playing in age brackets ranging from U6-U16. In each age bracket within FCYSL there are three different divisions separated by skill level.

Division 3 - Beginner level
Division 2 - Intermediate level
Division 1 - Competitive

BBSL is the advanced league that carries the most technically sound players within the PVYA organization. Currently we have one U14 Boys team playing in the BBSL league. Our goal is to have a team representative from every age bracket from U10 and above playing in BBSL by the Fall 2009 season.

PVYA Coaching Conduct

As a PVYA Coach you have a huge influence on the children of our program. Your demeanor, dress, tone, approachability, and leadership style will stay with the players throughout their soccer playing careers. With this said, PVYA Coaches are expected to be the pillar of sound judgement and leadership within the community and soccer program. Coaches must abide by the PVYA code of ethics and conflict of interest policy, and any reported conflict will be reviewed by the Board of Directors for corrective action and potential removal from the program.

PVYA Coaches Expectations (Outdoor/Indoor)

Provide an enjoyable, positive, developmental program that fosters team chemistry, technique, and creativity.
Provide players and parents with information regarding rules, systems of play, and expectations regarding the game of soccer and their individual team.
Coaches are required to inspect goalpost during each practice and game to ensure the equipment is safe for use.
Coaches are expected to be on time for practices and games which means 10 minutes prior for setup and inspection of the pitch.
Coaches are expected to ensure equal playing time for all players on teams except those rostered through a tryout process.
Coaches are expected to follow seasonal program initiatives to include player development, safety, child protection, and any other approved directives.
Smoking or the drinking of any alcoholic beverage is not permitted at any game, practice, or soccer function where players are present.
Abusive language or language that is offensive and/or can be perceived as inappropriate to players, spectators, parents, competitors, peers, or referees will not be tolerated.
Coaches will not "run up" scores on opposing teams if there is a clear technical advantage. Once the difference exceeds a 5 goal advantage, coaches are expected to change their style of play to ensure player morale, teamwork, and sportsmanship is maintained. Any game score reported exceeding a 7 goal differential must include steps taken during the game to maintain a level of fair play. This includes indoor games where a PVYA coach is leading a team of primarily PVYA players and plays under a PVYA name.
Coaches are expected prior to each game to introduce themselves to the opponents Coaches and provide
positive parenting reminders when needed to PVYA spectators.

PVYA Player Conduct
PVYA players are expected to use sound judgement on and off the playing field and be leaders at school and within the community. In addition, PVYA will not tolerate any behavior that damages or risks the reputation of our soccer program. Alcohol use, tobacco use, the use of illegal drugs, and the carrying of weapons, is considered reckless conduct which will result in the immediate dismissal from the soccer program.

On the field players are expected to be fair, safe, and energetic individuals that take their role seriously during game and practice conditions. Players who excel in the categories of leadership, playing style, community relations, academics, and creativty will be considered for the player of the week award that is posted in the Brunswick/Jefferson Citizen each week.

Players are expected to be at every practice unless ample notice is provided to the coaching staff. Players who play on other teams, play other sports, or who regularly miss practice will have their playing time reduced based on their attendance. Players are also expected to listen to the Team Captain and Coach with regards to team development and direction. Players U12 and above are expected to maintain at least a 2.5 average in their academics and may have playing time limited if their academic performance does not meet expectations.

PVYA Parent Conduct

Parents are expected to be supportive and enthusiastic towards their child's development and support the Positive Parenting Initiatives. Parents that support versus direct their children on the playing field encourage an environment of risk taking and creativity that increases confidence. In the end, confidence will be the attribute that makes the difference between a good and great player.

Parents are required to take the Positive Parenting Initiative prior to the start of the first game. The first three teams that reach 100% compliance will receive $50 towards additional equipment or a season ending party.

Commissioner Open Door Policy

Any questions or concerns regarding the abuse or inconsistent approach to enforcing all directives above should be relayed to pvya.soccercommissioner@yahoo.com.  Responses and follow up will be made within 48 hrs.
