Chris Rogers earns NGYFL Association President of The Year honors.
Having worked tirelessly for a second straight year to fill the shoes of a fifteen year incumbent legend (Les Mastin) as President of Smyrna Youth Football and Cheerleading, Chris humbly accepted the award instead giving praise to his wife Lisa and his supporting board members for a successful season.
In addition to the strenuous job of Association President, Chris also coached our 85lb Team to a Division Championship.

Flashback 2006 (NGYFL Coach of The Year)
LEDBETTER NAMED NGYFL'S COACH OF THE YEAR
Darryl Orlando Ledbetter, head coach of the Smyrna Spartans 105-pound football team, was recently named the David Daugherty Instructional Coach of the Year by the North Georgia Youth Football League.
“It was a great honor to be recognized as one of the top coaches is such a great league as the NGYFL,” Ledbetter said. “It was also tribute to the players, parents, and sponsors who support Smyrna Youth Football & Cheerleading, Inc.”
The large plaque reads, “ Through goal setting, perseverance and unselfish dedication of time and labor your leadership as a coach in the NGYFL has brought Smyrna Football to a successful level of pride and accomplishment benefitting all the members of your association and the NGYFL. Especially the children.”
Under the direction of Ledbetter and assistant head coach Marc Kelly, the collection of mostly first-year players were molded into a high-scoring unit that displayed a passion for defense. They were rewarded by receiving an at-large bid to play in Hillgrove’s Beef O’Brady Bowl.
The players on Coach Ledbetter’s team were Vincent Armstrong, Daz Brewer, Deon Dodd, Isaiah Eastman, Jordan Gaines, Bobby Hernandez, Eric Hines, Jacobus Janse Van Rensburg, Ian Kelly, P. Carson Mumford, Darius Rolland, Isaiah Tunnell, Brandon Usiak, Deniro Wilson, Julian Wright, Julian Johnson and James Rhodes.
The other assistant coaches were Greg Usiak and Wesley Kelly.

2006 Smyrna Spartans Year in Review
2006 was a sucessful year for the Smyrna Spartans. Several teams advanced well into the playoffs, just missing opportunities to advance to the Super Bowl.
2006 also saw our very own Darryl Ledbetter and Chris Rogers bring honor to Smyrna in the way of NGYFL Coach of the Year, and NGYFL Association President of the Year awards.
We are very proud of all of our players, cheerleaders, parents, coaches, and administrators. The year past was great. We look forward to an even better 2007.
