Football Canada has developed a set of rules governing what ages are grouped together. These are based on the Long Term Athlete Development Plan (LTAD). The Ontario Football Aliance and South Central Ontario Football League have adopted these rules for the 2010 season and beyond. In 2010, the Herd will be offering 3 levels of tackle football fot boys and girls. The age levels are:
PEEWEE (Formerly Atom)
(Players born in 1998, 1999, or 2000)
Players must be ages 10, 11, or 12 as of December 31st of the playing year.
BANTAM (Formerly Peewee)
(Players born in 1996 or 1997)
Players must be ages 13 or 14 as of December 31st of the playing year.
JUNIOR VARSITY
(Players born in 1994 or 1995)
Players must be ages 15 or 16 as of December 31st of the playing year.
There are no weight restrictions on any of these age levels.
