WOLVERINES 12U WIN CERBO BRIDGEWATER BLAST TOURNEY CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club capped off a long Memeorial weekend with an exhilarating 4-2 victory over the Jersey Patriots in the championship game of the Cerbo Bridgewater Blast Tournament at Prince Rodgers Field in Bridgewater NJ. The contest featured outstanding defense and pitching by both teams.
Steve Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 7-K, 1-R) and Jeff Oster (Save, 2-IP, 2-K, 0-ER) pitched well for the champions.
Greg Tompkins cranked up the offense in the top of the first inning by leading off with a single to centerfield. After Tompkins stole second base, Nick Conlon lined an RBI single to rightfield to give West Milford a quick 1-0 lead.
In the second frame, Steve Sweigart hit his second home run of the tournament, a solo shot, to increase the Wolverines' lead to 2-0. In the third stanza, Conor Labita led off with a single up the middle. After stealing second, Tompkins drilled a RBI single to leftfield to make the score 3-0. Tompkins' nifty running allowed him to move all the way around to score a a mix of wild pitches and stolen bases, giving West Milford a 4-0 cushion.
The Wolverines received their championship medals on the field after the game, then culminated the tourney with an ice water dousing of Coach Ed.

WOLVERINES 12U FALL TO SOUTH BRUNSWICK 8-5!!!

In pool game #3 of the Bridgewater Blast Tournament, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club fell to the South Brunswick Vikings 8-5 at Prince Rodgers Field in Bridgewater NJ. Even with the loss, the Wolverines still advanced to the championship game later in the afternoon.
Marc Anthony Gonzalez (2-IP, 2-K), Jeff Oster (2.2-IP, 5-K), and Steve Cuccio (1.1-IP, 0-R) handled the pitching chores for West Milford.
Steve Sweigart led the offensive charge with a solo homerun in the second inning. Gonzalez later walked, then used two wild pitches and a stolen base to scamper home with the Wolverine's second run.
In the fifth frame, Craigie Zeglen led off with a bunt single. After Conor Labita grounded into a fielder's choice, Greg Tompkins singled to load the bases. Nick Conlon and Cuccio followed up with RBI base hits to knock all three runners in.

WOLVERINES 12U SILENCE WARREN WARRIORS 7-0 IN BRIDGEWATER BLAST POOL GAME #2!!!

On Saturday, May 26th, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club silenced the Warren Warriors 7-0 behind a masterful complete game pitching performance from Nick Conlon in Pool Game #2 of the Cerbo Bridgewater Blast Tournament in Bridgewater NJ. Conlon let up only one hit and walked one, while striking out nine Warren batters in going the distance for West Milford. The Wolverines' defense sparkled throughout the evening.
In the top of the first inning, Greg Tompkins' leadoff double was immediately followed by Conlon driving a 2-run home run over the leftfield fence to give the visitors a quick 2-0 lead.
In the second stanza, Steve Sweigart led off with a single to leftfield. After E.J. Wiegman bunted him over to second base, Craig Zeglen lined a RBI single. Zeglen then stole second base and was knocked home by Conor Labita's RBI double off the fence in centerfield, giving the Wolverines a 4-0 cushion.
In the fourth frame, Marc Anthony Gonzalez reached on an error, stole second and third, then scored on Zeglen's RBI groundout. In the fifth, Conlon walked, advanced to third on wild pitches, then scored on Jeff Oster's RBI base hit to centerfield. In the sixth inning, consecutive singles by Gonzalez, Tommy Zarzecki, and Zeglen were followed by a bases loaded walk to Tompkins, increasing West Milford's lead to 7-0.

WOLVERINES 12U OVERWHELM FLOR-MAD 10-5 IN CERBO BRIDGEWATER BLAST OPENER!!!

On Friday, May 25th, the West Milford Wolverines 12U Baseball Club opened the Bridgewater Blast Tournament with a convincing 10-5 victory over Flor-Mad in Pool Game #1 at Prince Rodgers Field in Bridgewater NJ. Steve Cuccio (Win, 4-IP, 8-K, 0-R) and Jeff Oster (2-IP) handled the pitching duties for West Milford.
In the third frame after Conor Labita singled, Greg Tompkins blasted a two run homer over the leftfield fence to give the Wolverines a 3-0 lead. Nick Conlon and Cuccio both singled, then advanced all the way around to home on a series of Flor-Mad errors and wild pitches. After Steve Sweigart walked, singles by A.J. Willard and Marc Anthony Gonzalez drove Sweigart home for a 6-0 West Milford lead.
In the fourth inning, after Craig Zeglen lead off with a single and stole second base, Greg Tompkins laced an RBI base hit to increase West Milford's lead to 7-0.
In the fifth stanza, Cuccio singled and moved up to second on a Flor-Mad balk. Oster then ripped a base hit to center to score Cuccio. After a stolen base by Oster, Willard smashed an RBI double down the leftfield line to score Oster. Willard advanced to third on a balk, then scored on a RBI groundout by Nick Monteverdi.
