Practice is mandatory for every player. If you miss practice you will miss playing time in the next game based on a graduating scale.
  •       First missed practice - sit half a period
  •       Second missed practice - sit full period
  •       Third missed practice - sit two periods
  •       Fourth missed practice - sit full game

Exception to the rule

  • Injury - If you are injured and can't skate you may be excused
  • Illness - If you are sick you may be excused but.......Ask yourself this question before you miss a practice for illness. If there was a game tonight would I be able to play? If the answer is no, then you can miss practice.
  • High School Game - The Jr Flyers are a high school friendly organization so we will never tell you to miss a HS game for our practice. Keep in mind that if you miss too many practices your playing time will be impacted because you will be missing important activities on the practice ice.
Accumulation of Missed Practices - some players figure they can just call out sick and "get over" on the mandatory practice rule. That is not the case. Once you miss four practices you will fall under the mandatory practice rule and begin missing playing time.

Practice is the most important part of a successful team, so having all players at practice is a vital part of our teams success. If you miss practice you not only hurt yourself, you also hurt your teammates.

PRE-GAME WORKOUT - The team will meet 50 minutes before every game and go outside to stretch and get ready to play. Every player is expected to participate in the pre-game warm-up. If you miss the warm-up or choose not to participate you will sit the first period of the game.

UNIFORM & EQUIPMENT - Every player is expected to have their entire uniform and all equipment for a game. We are a team and must look like a team on the ice. If you show up without your game jersey you will NOT be allowed to participate in the game.

TEAM PLAYS AND SYSTEMS - If you do not know our plays and systems that is the quickest way to find yourself on the end of the bench and not playing. Study the playbook and know where you should be at all times on the ice.
