Rockville Baseball Association

  Age Groups for Spring 2017

 

Softball Division

Includes all players in the 2nd thru 8th grades

 

Guidelines for the Softball Division are as follows:

  • We participate with other teams from Olney, Burtonsville, Poolsville as well as other area leagues. 
  • 8U - Machine pitch
  • 10U - Kid and coach pitch
  • 13U - Kid pitch
  • The rules for the Softball Division are found on the web site under RBBA Softball rules in the left hand menu bar.

Instructional Division

Includes all players in the 1st and 2nd grades

 

Guidelines for the Instructional Division are as follows:

  • The Instructional Division is divided into two leagues - American and National. All policies and rules are the same for both leagues.
  • Scores and standings will not be kept.
  • Rules, equipment and fields are modified where necessary.
  • The Instructional Division will use a pitching machine.
  • There will be no tournament, post-season play or all-star competition.
  • Co-rec play is encouraged.
  • Coaches permitted on playing surface
  • There is 1 game a week.  The game will be played on Friday or Sunday.
  • In the Fall there is one game per week on Sunday.

 

 

Rookie Division

Includes all players in the 3rd grade

 

Guidelines for the Rookie Division are as follows:

  • The Rookie Division will have one league.
  • Scores will be kept, but the standings will be de-emphasized.
  • Rules, equipment, and fields are modified where necessary.
  • Playoffs allowed for regular season teams within the Rookie program.
  • Standardized policies for selection of players for all-star competition must be used and publicized.
  • Coaches not permitted to require sports specialization.
  • There are 2 games each week.  One during the week on Monday to Friday and one on Sunday.
  • Batting practice is on Saturdays.
  • Before the season starts there are up to two practices per week at the discretion of the coach.
  • In the Fall there is one game per week on Sunday.

 

Pee Wee Division

Includes all players in the 4th and 5th grades


Guidelines for the Pee Wee Division are as follows:

  • The Pee Wee Division is divided into two leagues - American and National. All policies and rules are the same for both leagues.
  • Scores will be kept, but the standings will be de-emphasized.
  • Coaches will encourage a variety of position and situational play opportunities.
  • Rules, equipment, and fields are modified where necessary.
  • Playoffs allowed for regular season teams within the Pee Wee program.
  • Standardized policies for selection of players for all-star competition must be used and publicized.
  • Coaches not permitted to require sports specialization.
  • There are 2 games each week. One on Tuesday or Thursday and one on Saturday.
  • Batting practice is on Sundays.
  • Before the season starts there are 2 practices a week...one of them on Saturday.
  • In the Fall there is one game per week on Sunday.

Midget Division

Includes all players in the 6th and 7th grades

 

Guidelines for the Midget Division are as follows:

  • The Midget Division is divided into two leagues - American and National. All policies and rules are the same for both leagues.
  • Scores and Standing will be kept.
  • Coaches will encourage a variety of position and situational play opportunities.
  • Coaches not permitted to require sports specialization.
  • Tournaments, post-season play, and all-star competition allowed. Selection criteria for participation should be publicized. Participation should be broad based.
  • There are two games each week.  One on Monday or Wednesday and one on Saturday.
  • In the Fall there is one game per week on Sunday.

 

Junior Division

Includes all players in the 8th and 9th grades

 

 General guidelines for the Junior Division are as follows:

  • The Junior Division will have one league.
  • Scores and Standing will be kept.
  • Coaches will encourage a variety of position and situational play opportunities.
  • Coaches not permitted to require sports specialization.
  • Tournaments, post-season play, and all-star competition allowed. Selection criteria for participation should be publicized. Participation should be broad based.

Senior Division

Includes all players from 10th grade and up to turning 18 before April 30 of the Spring Season

 

General guidelines for the Senior Division are as follows:

  • The Senior Division will have one league.
  • Scores and Standings will be kept.
  • Coaches will encourage a variety of position and situational play opportunities.
  • Coaches not permitted to require sports specialization.
  • Tournaments, post-season play, and all-star competition allowed. Selection criteria for participation should be publicized. Participation should be broad based.
  • There are two games each week.  One during the week, Monday through Thursday, and one game on Sunday.
  • In the Fall there is one game per week on Sunday.
