Shasta Magic Tournament Rules

Un-sportsmanlike Conduct will not be tolerated

HS Rules apply to Girls AAU Basketball

HS Rules apply to Boys AAU Basketball

 

Exceptions:

  • Ball size – girls 28.5
  • Boys 10U/4th and 12U/6th – 28.5
  • Boys 13U/7th thru Varsity – Men’s Regulation size

 

Time

·         4th thru 6th grade 14 minute stop clock Halves;  7th grade and up 16 minute stop clock Halves.

·         All games are stop clock games; except that the clock shall run if a team is ahead by 25 points in the last quarter.  Stop clock shall resume if the lead is cut down to 12 points or less.

  • Mercy Rule (If there is a 25 point lead in the last quarter, the clock can run only if both coaches agree!
  • Games shall not start early
  • Minimum 5 minute warm-up with 5 minute half-times
  • 10 second backcourt when 30 second clock is not available
  • On ball 5 second count while dribbling is in affect (Front court only)
  • Time Outs: 3 Full timeouts and 2-30 second timeout per game. Each team will be given 1 additional Full timeout during overtime
  • Overtime period 3 minutes stopped clock. Additional overtimes will be 1 minute stopped clock.  1 additional time out per overtime period.

Fouls

·         A player is disqualified on the 5th personal foul

·         Technical fouls count as a personal foul and a team foul.

·         2 technical fouls on any individual player or coach will result in an ejection from the game

·         2 ejections in the tournament will result in removal from the remainder of the tournament

·         Teams will shoot 1 & 1 on the 7th team foul of the half and 2 shots on the 10th team foul of the half

Free throws

·         All players may enter the lane when the ball hits the rim.

·         6 players in the lane plus the shooter below the top of the key.

·         Players in first position may step on first block for position.

Tie Breakers

·         In case of a tie the following format will be used:

             1-Head to Head

             2-Point Differential with a maximum of 13 points - Ex: Team A wins 45-21 but their point
               differential will be +13

             3-Total points allowed – all games

 

Coaches are responsible for listing players on the official score sheet/book (home team) 10 minutes prior to start of game.  Home team shall keep official score sheet/book.

 

Home team (top of bracket or first team in pool) will wear light jerseys. Visiting team will wear dark jerseys. If correct uniform not available pinney’s will be worn and is the responsibility of the team without correct uniform.

AAU Membership: 
All teams, coaches, and players must be AAU members in good standing.  Head coaches must have required proof of age/grade/membership for all coaches and team members with them at all games.  Proof must be submitted to the tournament operator/site manager for review upon request by the tournament operator/site manager or by any opposing coach.  







Game Time Policy

  • Game time is game time. (exception) If a team shows up 10 minutes late, the opposing team has the decision on claiming a victory by forfeit or playing the game with an adjustment to the clock. If a team is more than 10 minutes late, the game is a forfeit. In addition, the game may start earlier than scheduled time, only if both coaches agree to start early.

  • There maybe unforeseen circumstances that may require site director to make changes concerning the manner in which the clock is being run. If the tournament is running behind time it may become necessary for the clock to be run and stopped for shooting fouls only. Once the tournament has been determined to be back on time, normal stop clock may continue.

 

Disruptive Behavior or Fighting Policy

Any player involved in fighting, spitting, or provoking behavior towards any person, on or off the court, during this event shall be suspended for all remaining games and shall not be allowed to participate in the following tournament. Any spectator involved in fighting (physical contact with another), spitting, or provoking behavior towards another person during this event, shall not be allowed in or around any gym of the event being held. Absolutely no profanity from spectators, players or coaches shall be allowed. Any spectator causing a problem shall be asked to leave the gym by lead official or site director. (Expelled spectator must be away from any entrance or exit of gym.) That spectator shall be allowed back to future games. Lead official or Site Director has the right to ask any person to leave the gym site. If that person does not leave immediately, 911 shall be called.

Officiating Policy

Shasta Magic Athletics is not responsible for the assigning of officials for any games. The officials are assigned by an independent contracted official.  Any complaints regarding officiating must be submitted in writing.

 Please ask for the address at the event, if you wish to file a complaint.
Your complaint should include game time and location. Include as much detailed information as possible. All complaints will be forwarded to the appropriate association.

All games will be officiated by a four member crew (2 referees, scorekeeper, and score board operator.

Awards

 

  • 10 T-Shirt individual awards will be given to players that are present at the championship game only.
  • 2nd place will receive T-Shirt individual awards.

 

Admission

Admission will be charged each day at all gyms:

·         $7.00 for ages 12 yrs. & UP

·         $12.00/2-Day Pass Ages 12 & UP

·         $5.00 for Seniors 65 yrs.+

·         $5.00 for 5yrs. thru 12 yrs.

·         ages 4 & under are free

 

Coaches must check in at the door prior to the first game.  Maximum of (2) coaches will receive coach’s band per team, and must be listed on the team roster as a Head Coach or Assistant with current AAU membership
