Equipment Fitting

Shoulder pad side straps should be a snug feel. Squeezing chest plate and back plate to body.

Helmets should be a snug fit. Slight discomfort at the beginning is normal.  Wearing the helmet at home helps player get use to the feeling before the first 1 ½ hour practice.

Front of helmet should be approximately 1” above player’s eyebrows. About 1 finger width, see picture below.  NEVER wear a helmet positioned too low or too high.  For safety and comfort reasons.

4-point high chin straps should be used. The league supplies soft cups chin straps. Parents can purchase hard cup straps if preferred.  PLEASE DO NOT CUT league supplied chin straps.

Adjusting chin strap.

A)      Install top straps between face mask and helmet shell.  Do not snap.

B)      Put helmet on player 1” above eyebrow with mouth piece in.

C)      Have player hold chin strap in position, and set top strap length and snap.

D)     Players with Schutt helmets should have lower straps run inside the helmet and out the slots behind ear holes. See picture below. Some hard cup chin straps can run outside helmet.

E)      Players with Riddell helmets should have lower straps come up from bottom of helmet. See picture below.

Mouth pieces should formed to mouth per instructions.

Equipment Care

Tighten all screws (Face mask and chin strap snaps) at a minimum of three (3) times per season (Pre-Season, Mid-Season, and Post-Season)

Clean inside of helmet with damp cloth weekly. DO NOT soak helmet.

Clean outside of helmet before and after season with mild detergent. Goo Gone works great for sticker residue and Mr. Clean eraser for marks. DO NOT use solvents or abrasive cleaners.

Shoulder pads should be air dry daily. DO NOT leave in trunk of car.

Avoid storing equipment in extreme heat and direct sunlight.

Please turn equipment in at end of year with decals removed and cleaned.

Thank you for helping keep our league safe and fun.
