ALL STAR SELECTION OUTLINE
The CNE organization has been working to improve on our all star program. In the past we have had the players that wanted to participate in the program attend a tryout. There would be a few representatives evaluating them there. Then the team would be assembled based on the evaluations. We felt that this process does not give a true evaluation to assemble an all star team. It also does not give the kids enough of a chance to show their skills. The players performance during their season is their evaluation. The process that we are going to put in place for this year is as follows:
- A Manager will be nominated to the board by the VP of Baseball/Softball for approval.
- Roughly 4 weeks into the season the Manager, VP of Baseball/softball, Player agent, and Head Coaches of the regular season teams will meet. Head Coaches of regular season teams will give a list of players from their team that they feel should be considered for the all star team based on their performance during the season.
- The Manager, VP of Baseball/Softball and Player Agent will meet to formulate a list of candidates for the all star team using the list supplied by the head coaches, but not limited to the list, given by the regular season head coaches.
- The Manager will then contact the candidates that have been choosen.
If your child is chosen, he/she will need to make a commitment to the all star team. The plan is to begin practicing earlier than we have in the past but not interfering with their regular season teams. The dates for the district tournaments are listed below. Please take note of the dates, all players must be available for pre-tournament practice with the all star team and tournament games.
Softball
10U July 3-5 or 10-12 (site has not been determined yet)
12U July 3-5 or 10-12 (site has not been determined yet)
16U Host Team August 8-15 (World Series)
There will be one additional All-Star softball team that will be selected after the 16U Host team is selected. If there are sufficient players to form a second 16U all-star team that would be the preferred age group as this team could earn a berth in the World Series thru the Tournament Trail. If the ages of the players do not support this but there are sufficient younger players, a 14U all-star team will be chosen. Here are the dates that would apply.
14U July 17-19 (states)
16U July 10-12 (states)
Baseball
10U June 25-28
12U July 9-12
Please note that these dates are for the district tournaments (except for the U16 Host team). Teams may advance to the next round.
