General Information

• Players must be league age by GBSA league guidelines on 5/1/2012
• Players selected to play AA or AAA baseball must register with GBSA for Select Baseball in Grapevine
• GBSA AA Select Baseball is affiliated with Texas Elite Baseball Association Interlock (TEBA) league. For more information, visit www.texaseba.com

Tryouts and Team Selection Process

• Players will be evaluated in hitting, pitching, fielding, throwing and base running
• Roster will be selected by the Head Coach based on:
  1. Player skill assessment ratings
  2. Specific needs of the team
• Other GBSA officials not affiliated with the Select team may assist in player evaluation during the tryout
• Final rosters/selection dates are determined near the end of the previous season.

AA/AAA Baseball

• Select baseball is NOT an equal play program
• It is assumed that the Select team will be the players’ sport of choice and will maintain priority status
• Select coaches will do all that they can to provide a memorable experience and attempt to “service” each player with quality game time experience
• Select baseball is more aggressive than recreational league play
  1. All games are played with “open bases”
  2. Runners are free to lead off and steal any base at any time at their own risk

Practice / Game Schedule

• Expect 2-3 practices per week prior to the beginning of league play
• During league play, expect 2-3 games per week and 1-2 practices per week
• Home games will be played at Oak Grove Park and away games will be played at the home field of the opposing team (i.e. Lewisville, Flower Mound, Coppell)
• Tournaments typically run from Thursday through Sunday and can require that your team play as many as 3-4 games in a single day
• If you are not able to play on Sunday or if you anticipate that you will be unavailable to play in some of the league / tournament games due to other commitments, please communicate this to your coach prior to your tryout

Expenses of Select Baseball

• Expect to spend $300-1000 per player ($75-200 per player for uniforms due upon order and $100-600 per player for tournament fees due as tournaments are scheduled)
• The Select teams will attempt to gain sponsorships to supplement the team expenses.
