IGCA FOOD DRIVE
I.G.C.A. Cares

The Irving Girls Cheerleader Association held their first-annual food drive for Irving Cares, Inc. during Football opening ceremonies on August 26th at Trinity View Park. Members and volunteers collected over 2,600 items that were donated to support Irving residents with food during times of need.

According to Leigh Eitson, an Irving Cares volunteer, “The food couldn’t have come at a better time”. Generally, the food pantry is running low this time of year and when school starts, Irving Cares has several requests from needy families for food and financial assistance as well as aid from other programs that Irving Cares offers. It has also been stated that since Hurricane Katrina hit, there have been several displaced Louisiana families in the Irving office requesting emergency assistance. “This food is such a blessing”, Leigh stated.

Other food and donation drives are currently being scheduled by I.G.C.A. members and volunteers to support both Irving Cares, Inc. and Hurricane Katrina survivors. For more information please check back!
