The Linganore-Urbana Youth Athletic Association (LUYAA) Lacrosse program is committed to providing a fun and competitive environment for players in kindergarten through 8th grade. We firmly believe that the lessons learned in organized sports extend far beyond the nature of the game. Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of lacrosse, as well as teamwork and good sportsmanship. We are a non-profit, completely volunteer organization, with many coaches and individuals who dedicate a great deal of time and resources to supporting our youth.
While our registration fees cover a significant portion of our operating expenses, we are unable to provide all the resources necessary for an effective program.
In order to provide these resources, we need your help. The following are examples of items not available within our current budget:
- Coaches training, coaching tools (reference books, whistles, training cones), pennies, goals and goalie gear and field maintenance expenses
- A storage shed to help maintain our goals and equipment.
- Tournaments for advanced play
Please help support LUYAA Lacrosse. We are very grateful for your assistance. We will recognize your donation on our website (www.luyaa.org), and to our members throughout the season. For donations over $100, we can also include a link to your business on our website.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your support.

Cal Ripken's book!
2009 US Lacrosse National Convention
LUYAA Lacrosse Awarded Autographed Cal Ripken Book
January 16, 2009, baseball icon Cal Ripken gave the US Lacrosse Convention's Keynote Address, sharing the, 8 Elements of Perseverance that make the Difference, from his book "Get in the Game".
At the end of his presentation, Mr. Ripken took questions from the audience. LUYAA Lacrosse Commissioner Jaine Ackley said to Ripken, "My coaches (Jason and Rock) have challenged me to ask if you would come speak for us...but I told them we can't afford you." But she did ask if he would autograph his book and donate it for our LUYAA LAXFEST Silent Auction.
Mr. Ripken agreed! The book, along with t-shirts and posters signed by the 2009 Womens National Team, and many other fine items will be available for bid at the silent auction during our LUYAA LAXFEST on May 3, 2009.
Fifteen LUYAA Lacrosse coaches attended the convention, held January 16-18 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Lacrosse experts from around the world, from college coaches to US Lacrosse representatives offered 140 classes, clinics and live demos, from how to "Build a Better Practice", to LUYAA Coach Mark Stephens favorite, "Making it Fun". Western Maryland Chapter President and LUYAA Lacrosse parent and coach Kim Lenta was one of the featured speakers.
The US Lacrosse Convention was an excellent opportunity to advance the education of our coaches and enhance the quality of our program. Many thanks to the following coaches for taking the time to attend this important event.

Ann Bowman, Mark Stephens,
