FAIR PLAY FOR PLAYERS
The game is most enjoyable when all participants recognize that there is a right spirit in which to engage in soccer.
Players can set the example by showing they are partners bound by the companionship in sport.
Respect for opponents, given whether they are winning or losing, makes us all Fair Play winners.
The outcome of a match is never as important as the lasting impression of warmth and understanding.
Scoring a goal is really thrilling when it rewards a true achievement.
Playing to win is an essential first objective, but soccer loses its appeal when players seek victory by any means.
At all times, players should show respect for the referees and accept their decisions in a dignified manner.
If you win, do it gracefully. If you lose, do it gracefully as well.
Cheer your teammates; respect your opponents; listen to the referee; try your best; have a blast!
FAIR PLAY FOR PARENTS
Provide transportation to and from all practices and games ensuring that the player is prompt not only in arriving but also in departing.
Stay and watch practices as well as games and lend the young players your support in a positive manner. Do not point out their mistakes, leave that up to the coach, but dwell on their accomplishments as well as their efforts.
If unable to attend the practice or game encourage your child not to talk to or leave practices or games with strangers.
Ensure that your child brings equipment to and from all soccer games and practices when appropriate.
Be available to kick the ball around with your child when you are invited to do so.
Avoid material rewards. Build an attitude of "the rewards lie in the fun of being able to play."
Be a good listener. Make them feel important and let them know that they are contributing to a team effort.
Be positive. Never criticize. Suggest an alternate way if they are not performing correctly, such as... "hey, that is pretty good, but why don't you try it this way."
In competition someone always loses. If you win do it gracefully, not boastfully. If you lose do not allow your child to become negative.
Too much competition, too soon, can slow down a child's progress in skill development.
Make fun and technique development your first priorities.
Your child's coach will need all the support and help you can offer. Please, make yourself available and volunteer all the time you can spare.
Disagreements with the coach or officials do not belong on the public soccer field. Questions, input, and positive suggestions should be voiced to the coach and/or club in an adult atmosphere. The youth player should not be present.
Enjoy the game and the opportunity to be with your child on the field of play.
FAIR PLAY FOR COACHES
Keep winning and losing in proper perspective.
Develop the child's appreciation of the game. Allow players to experience all positions.
Utilize proper teaching and instructing of players regarding safe techniques and methods of play.
Supervise and control your players so as to avoid injury situations.
Strive to maintain integrity within the sport.
Know and follow all the rules and policies set forth by clubs, leagues, state and national associations.
Encourage moral and social responsibility.
Allow players to have fun - give them positive feedback.
Be a positive role model.
