The 2004-05 Tigers defeated Orange Lutheran on the last game of the season to win the outright Empire League championship. The Tigers went 9-1 in league and won a school record 24 games to finish the season 24-6. The Tigers defeated Victorville, Edison, and North Torrance to earn a spot in the CIF semi-finals. They eventually lost to to Pasedena 58-39.

Other notable accomplishments:
*This was the first Empire League basketball championship in VHS history.
*This was the first league championship since 1993-94.
*This was the first team since 1959-60 to reach the CIF semi-finals.
*Junior Ray Magee was named Empire League MVP.
*Ray Magee was also named 2AA first team All-CIF.
*Bryan Simmons (1st team), Rashad Chambers (1st team) and Nahum Berhan (2nd team) were named All-Empire league.
