Umpire Information
There are still openings for umpires for the upcoming youth baseball season. Requirements to become an umpire are be at least 14 years old and, if you are a first time umpire, attend a 6 week umpire clinic.
Most equipment is provided (face mask, chest protector, umpire shirt, indicator, ball bag, and plate brush). You will need to provide grey long pants, black shoes, and a dark colored cap.
Generally, games are played Monday through Thursday starting at 6:00 pm. You will need to be able to get to the games at least 15 minutes prior to each game. Most games are played at Memorial Park. Starting pay for umpires is $30.00 per Midget level game, $35 per Junior level game and $40 per Senior level game.
2008 CCJBA Umpire Clinics
CCJBA provides annual training courses for umpires. The classes for 2008 are now scheduled.
There are two sessions for your convenience to choose from. You may mix and match each week if needed.
For example, the March 11th class in North Marion is the same curriculum as the March 13th class in Gladstone.
There is a $30 fee for the clinic. The 5th session is for testing.
