 Rob Boc
Canal Family,

It deeply saddens me to bring you the news of the loss of one of our own. On Thursday 8/18 in the early AM, Rob Boc coach of the Major Diamondbacks passed away. I have personally known Coach Boc for about 5 years. He was a great guy who gave a lot of time and dedication to Canal. I would always find Rob at the field early in the season working on the fields, in many cases alone, getting them ready for the season. He loved the game of baseball and loved working with his son Jason and all the other kids on his teams. Rob was all about teaching the fundamentals of the game.  I had the pleasure of watching him coach on our 12 year old District Team this year. He was never a loud person and I never saw him get upset. He just wanted the best for all kids.

I send my deepest sympathies to his wife Janice and their children Jason and Kristin. I watched Jason mature with his father’s coaching and is a great kid!! You would always find Janice and Kristin in their chairs rooting on Rob and Jason at every game. We have lost a great member of the Canal family and one that will never be forgotten.  We have truly lost a great coach, great family man, just a great man all around. Please pray for the Boc family during this difficult time.

Sadly,
Mo Parson President - Canal Little League

Kenny McGrory
I write this with great sadness, but Canal Little League lost one of its players last Friday. Kenny McGrory was a 17 year old player that played Junior Baseball at Canal. Kenny unfortunately was troubled and decided to take his life last Friday. He was a great kid with an infectious smile with a passion for baseball. A service will be held for him this Saturday 2/19 @ 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Methodist Church Rte 896 in Glasgow, DE. A trust fund has been set up in Kenny's name at Delaware State Troopers Federal Credit Union P.O. Box 800 Georgetown, DE 19947. The parents request that donations go this versus sending flowers. Kenny's father is a Delaware State Trooper named Dean McGrory and personal friend of mine.

I will say this, please stay in tune with your kids, it is our job to mold them and shape them. There are many times they try to talk to us but we don't listen. Let them know it is ok to fail, because you learn from it. Not to step on anyone's beliefs or toes, but I feel kids need God in their life and their parents. God gives them a foundation and the parents support that. Always tell your kids you love them and that nothing is unfixable.

Regretfully,

Mo Parson
President - Canal Little League
