Provincial 16U Bantam Girls Team - Final Roster
The 2015 16U Bantam Girls Team would like to announce the final roster of players that will make up the 2015 Provincial Selects Team. The final roster can be found HERE.

The team will now travel to Saguenay, Quebec to represent Newfoundland and compete in the 2015 Baseball Canada 16U Bantam Girls National Championships from August 13 - 17.

More information will be provided as it becomes available. The Coaching Staff would like to thank all players that tried out for the team.

Position Added To Baseball NL Executive - Director of Female Baseball

Baseball NL has created the position on its executive of Director of Female Baseball. Robert Morgan of St. John's was elected to the position at the 2014 Baseball NL AGM in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Congratulations to National Women's Team Player Heather Healey

Heather Healey of Paradise has been named to the roster of Baseball Canada's National Women's Team. Heather traveled with her teammates to Miyazaki, Japan for the September 1-7 IBAF Women's World Cup. The team played three exhibition games and Heather pitched in two of them. Heather pitched an inning in a game against Australia in the World Championships Saturday morning, allowing 2 hits and an unearned run. Canada lost 3-2 in the Bronze Medal game against Australia. Pepsi 14U PeeWee Girls Championships

Congratulations to the Conception Bay North Bulldogs on their 16-13 championship game victory in the Pepsi Provincial 14U Tournament played Sunday, August 3rd in Upper Island Cove. The Bulldogs went 3-0 in the round robin. St. John's was 2-1, Grand Falls-Windsor Braves were 1-2 and the Pasadena Pirates were 0-3. Girls Baseball Skills & Drills Identification Camp

A Girls Baseball Skills & Drills Camp was held May 3rd and 4th at the Techniplex in St. John's. Rookie and Mosquito aged girls (born 2003-2006) sessions were scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, and 2:00 p..m to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd. Mosquito, PeeWee, and Bantam aged girls (born 1996-2002) sessions were scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to noon, and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4th. Registration fee is $30.00. The camp was open to all local association members and also to girls who not playing or registered with a local association. Players received instruction in all aspects of the game.

 

 


 

Toronto Blue Jays Girls Day Clinic in St. John's on July 27th

The Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy held four Girls Days, in partnership with Baseball Canada this summer. The Blue Jays are very enthusiastic about promoting girls baseball across the country, as they sponsor the women's national team each year. The three-hour instructional clinics were be held in St. John's, Toronto, Vancouver, and Halifax. The clinics were open to girls ages 6 to 16 and focused on baseball fundamentals such as throwing, batting, fielding and baserunning. The Blue Jays Baseball Academy  partnered with members of the Canadian National Women's Team to act as instructors. The registration fee was $45 and participants wwere given a Blue Jays T-shirt, hat and baseball manual.

 

Girls Baseball - CBC Radio Noon Interview: Baseball Camp in Cuba

Players Heather Healey of Paradise and Jaclyn Morgan of St. John's and NL Girls Coach Robert Morgan of St. John's were interviewed on the CBC Radio Noon Show on Wednesday March 6th. The girls and Bob were interviewed about their trip in February to a baseball camp in Cuba which was arranged by Baseball Canada.
