2007 Season News
Fox Chase Freedom
’07 Season News and Upcoming Events
The Freedom is together again for the 7th consecutive year. This season we welcome Erin Null, Nicole Bracciale and Brittany Crookham, and we wish the best to Katie Benek and Maureen Hawkins as they move on to other teams.
The Freedom’s season started back in July as the team held their 4th ‘Survivor’ Training Camp, July 30th through August 2nd. This annual kick-off had the Red Team ‘Out pointing’ the White Team in a 4-day series of training and skill competitions.
Training continued through the month of August at Rydal Elementary as evening training sessions were held.
The Freedom participated in the Club’s 2nd annual Intra-Club Tournament at the end of August. The intent is for Fox Chase’s teams to begin competitive games before the actual season begins. The Freedom scored a 6 – 0 victory over the U16F Fox Chase team.
The Intercounty U17F schedule will include games with 5 clubs playing each both home and away. A.C. United, Buckingham, Council Rock, Montgomery and Springfield round out the 10 game outdoor schedule.
We will practice every Thursday at Fox Chase from 8 – 9:30. Your attendance at every practice is encouraged. Please notify Coach Steinke if you can’t be there.
The team will participate in the UJSL Columbus Cup at Parkwood Soccer Club the weekend of October 6th and 7th. Please mark your calendars.
In the spirit of community service, the team will be volunteering in the Multiple Sclerosis Walk on Saturday October 13th. The local office has asked that we work the lunch area by assisting the participants as they stop for their mid-day meal. Players and parents can lend a hand. Please complete and return the attached form to Coach Steinke no later than September 23rd.
Our fundraiser this year is going to be a Freedom Raffle. Players will receive 25 tickets to be sold at $2 each. Players will draw a winning ticket from their sold raffles. Prizes will range from Ipod Shuffles, Dinner Gift Certificates and Shopping Gift Cards. Tickets will be distributed September 23rd and the drawing will be held at the Columbus Cup Tournament at Parkwood.
The team has four high school seniors who are beginning their college ‘shopping’ experience. Lauren Duffy, Nicole Bracciale, Jen and Kim Steinke have made a few campus visits as they look forward to the ‘next step’. Schools being considered to date include Eastern, Immaculata, Bryn Mawr, Chestnut Hill, Millersville, Kutztown and West Chester.
Good luck to the team this season! Fox Chase Freedom...Rocks!!!
