    TX SPORTS TRAINING

Club Policies Guestbook | Search | Weather | Fun & Games

    POLICY 1 - TRAINING EQUIPMENT/ETIQUETTE

National follows the below policy regarding player equipment and etiquette during training sessions:

    • Players shall wear the gray training shirt with "HFW National" displayed on the front.
    • Black shorts would be preferred, but not required.
    • Shirts shall be tucked in.

POLICY 2 - PLAYING TIME IN GAMES

The subject of “how much playing time should players be given at practices, scrimmages, league game, and tournaments” has been discussed and implemented differently throughout the Club. The purpose of this policy will be to document the policy of the Club regarding this issue.

*ALL PLAYING TIME AND POSITIONS OF PLAYERS ARE TO BE DETERMINED BY THE TRAINER*

In Division 1, for our U11 and U12 players, it is the intention of the club and its trainers for all the players to play at least 50% of every game.

In age groups U13 and above, playing time is up to the discretion of the Trainer.
    *NO GUARANTEE OF PLAYING TIME*

In all other age groups and divisions, players must play at least 1/2 of every game.

This applies to practices, scrimmages, league play and tournaments. One exception is disciplinary discretion available to a Trainer of any team. Playing time at National Cup and Presidents Cup tournaments is also an exception to this policy.

POLICY 3 - PLAYING TIME FOR MISSED PRACTICES/SHOWING UP LATE TO GAMES
The subject of “how much playing time should players be given when they miss practice/s or show up late to games" has been discussed and implemented differently throughout the Club. The purpose of this policy will be to document the policy of the Club regarding this issue.

    • 1 Day of Missed Practice - Trainer Discretion
    • 2 Days of Missed Practices - Player will not start next game.
    • Showing up late to game after warm-up has begun - Player will not start in that game.

POLICY 4 - PLAYING UP IN AGE

National is a soccer club that is committed to the continued development and growth of players within the organization.  While National believes it is in the best interest of all players to participate within their age appropriate grouping, in some instances, skill issues may determine the most appropriate level of play, best suiting a player’s development which will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Club Training Staff.

Players interested in playing up in age should be recommended by the Training Staff to tryout for an older age group based on his observation of the player’s development and ability to impact an older team OR in the U-14 age group and above, the player may be selected by the Training Staff to tryout for an older team in order to maintain a consistency in the actual "school year" grade of the player (i.e., team with ALL freshmen) subject to the player’s skill level.

For players to be selected to play on an “older age group” team, the Training Staff must determine that they will be able to compete at that level.

Exceptions to the above policy must be approved by the National Board on a case-by-case basis.

POLICY 5 - TRYOUTS FOR SICK AND INJURED PLAYERS

Players attend annual tryouts for our Division 1, Super 2, and Division 2 teams.  The purpose of this Policy is to document the policy of the Club regarding how to handle sick or injured players at tryouts who are unable to participate.

Players wishing to tryout who are sick or injured, and are unable to participate at tryouts, are required to attend a special tryout or Club sponsored soccer camp at a future date once they have recovered from their sickness or injury. Based on this special tryout, the player will be placed on the appropriate team.  The Director of Trainers and appropriate Trainer(s) will make this decision.  Injured players must notify the Trainer by the first day of tryouts that they are sick or injured and can’t participate.

    POLICY 6 - DISCIPLINARY ACTION - TRAINERS/COACHES

National will continually monitor teams, trainers, and coaches for attitudes and behavior consistent with the club philosophy and guidelines.  Any actions including, but not limited to the following, that harm or injure a child or that detract from the reputation of HFW National Soccer Club will result in the immediate suspension of a trainer or coach pending a review by the Directors and the Board of HFW National Soccer Club:

    ·        Physical harassment of a player

    ·        Physical or verbal abuse of an opponent (including players and coaches), a parent, a spectator, a referee or any other member of the HFW National Soccer Club

    ·        Failing to discourage/discipline HFW National Soccer Club players who participate in physical or verbal abuse of an opponent (including players and coaches), a parent, a spectator, a referee or any other member of the HFW National Soccer Club

    ·        Any action that affects the outcome of a game in an unfair or unjust manner

The review process will consist of the notification of a trainer or coach that a complaint has been received.  The complaint will be reviewed by the National Board, who will then investigate the complaint.  The coach or coaches will be given the opportunity to appear before the Board and respond to the complaint.  After formal review, trainer or coach will be notified of the outcome of the review process.  If a suspension or termination is deemed warranted, a trainer or coach will be notified in writing of the disciplinary action and its duration.  After completion of that suspension, a trainer or coach may be allowed to return to coaching on a probationary basis with a zero tolerance clause.  If complaints are received at any time during that probationary period, the National Board will review the matter.  If the complaint is determined to be founded, the coach will be removed and not allowed to coach in any future season for National.

    POLICY 7 - PRE-PRACTICE ACTIVITES
National wants the players to develop during all facets of training.  When players show up to practice, and before practice has officially begun, they are required to do 2 activities which are dependent on the day:

    • Monday and Tuesday - Juggling
    • Wednesday and Thursday - Keep Away in a 10x10 or 12x12 square playing 3v1, 3v2, 4v2, 5v2, or 6v2.

    POLICY 8 - TRAINER ETIQUETTE & POLICIES
    The trainer shall:
    • Wear Club/Diadora Gear for Practices and Games
    • Show up to pre-game warm-ups (whenever possible).  Ex:  If the trainer tells his team to arrive 45 minutes prior to game start, that same trainer should make every effort to be there as well.
    • Trainers shall provide a list of players and playing positions to others trainers who may be watching their team in case of absence.
    • The DOC's of the club will send a coverage list to the managers of the club so that they are informed of who will be covering their game.
